Career

Peña was born in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.

He began his minor league career at the age of 19 in 2009.[1]

He was called up to the major leagues for the first time on August 19, 2016.[2] In 11 Major League games to finish the 2016 season, Peña had a 4.00 ERA. The Cubs would eventually make it to the playoffs and win the World Series. Peña did not participate in the postseason, but was on the 40-man roster at the time the Cubs won.[3]

On October 9, 2017, the Cubs traded Peña to the Angels for cash or a player to be named. He began the 2018 season in AAA before being called up on June 18.[4] He remained in the Angels rotation for the remainder of the season. He was 3-5 with a 4.18 ERA, and 85 strikeouts in 92 23 innings.[5]. On July 12, 2019, Peña pitched seven no-hit innings, helping the Angels throw a combined no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners.[6] On August 4, he tore his right ACL which ended his season.[7]
