Daihatsu Esse

The Daihatsu Esse (Japanese: ダイハツ・エッセ, Daihatsu Esse) is a kei car manufactured by the Japanese automaker Daihatsu. It was launched in December 2005, that at launch was the cheapest new car in Japan. Its former price range was ¥682,500 to ¥1,123,500. It was fitted with a 658 cc (40 cu in) KF-VE inline-three petrol engine.[2]

Overview

According to Daihatsu, the name "Esse" means "Eco, Smart, Simple & Easy". It was available as a 5-door hatchback in two distinct styles - Esse or Esse Custom. The Esse was available in Eco, D, L and X grade levels with front- or four-wheel drive layout. The Esse Custom was added in November 2006 and was available in front- and four-wheel drive layout.

Its production ended in September 2011 and replaced by the Mira e:S.
