Cyprus was represented by the artist Lia Vissi, with the song "To katalava arga", at the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 4 May in Gothenburg, Sweden. The song was chosen internally by broadcaster CyBC.

At Eurovision
On the night of the final Vissi performed 3rd in the running order, following Finland and preceding Denmark. At the close of voting, "To katalava arga" had received 15 points, placing Cyprus 16th of the 19. The Cypriot jury awarded its 12 points to Germany.[1]
