Chinese Restaurant (TV series)
Chinese Restaurant (simplified Chinese: 中餐厅; traditional Chinese: 中餐廳; pinyin: Zhōngcāntīng) is a Chinese celebrity reality show broadcast by Hunan Television. Season 1 premiered on July 22, 2017 and had 11 episodes. Season 2 premiered on July 20, 2018 and had 12 episodes. Season 3 premiered on July 26, 2019 and had 13 episodes. Season 4 premiered on July 31, 2020 and will have 12 episodes. It's Vicky Zhao's first reality/variety show as a regular guest.[1][2]

Influences
After premiering of the first season on 22 July 2017, the canned bacon, labeled "SPAM", sold out in Mainland China online shopping in several hours, which Vicky Zhao bought in a Thailand supermarket and cooking in the show.[3] After premiering of the second season on 20 July 2018, the white stork toy sold out in Mainland China online shopping in several days, which repeated Vicky Zhao's words in the show.[4]
Controversy
There is a plagiarism controversy over Chinese Restaurant that its format is very similar to tvN's Youn's Kitchen in Korea.[5] Na Young-seok, producer of Youn's Kitchen responded that "The format is not expensive to purchase. If they purchase the format, I can help them on specific details as well."[6][7]
gollark: I would hope you don't actually combine the no-english with the claimed stricter enforcement, given that people like discussing Toki Pona and such.

gollark: Having an overly broad harshly punished rule and then selectively enforcing it is worse than a narrower rule which might not cover some cases, except we have never actually had advertising issues not covered already.
