Centro de Enseñanza Técnica Y Superior (CETYS) University is a private Institution of Higher Education founded in 1961, located in the Baja California region, one of the most dynamic in the world. CETYS is a three-campus university system developing well-rounded persons in Engineering, Business and the Social Sciences.

CETYS is the only university in Mexico currently accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). CETYS is also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
By incorporating internationalization, entrepreneurship, information literacy, industry linkages, social responsibility and sustainability across all programs, CETYS is committed to developing globally competitive professionals that have a positive impact in today's world.
History
Under the support of a group of visionary businessmen, who formed the Instituto Educativo del Noroeste (IENAC), a not-for-profit civil association that supports CETYS. The institution opened its doors on September 20, 1961, in Mexicali. Tijuana began operating in 1970, with the Ensenada campus following in 1975.
Currently, CETYS University is known as one of the top higher education institutions in Mexico, being nationally and internationally accredited. In 2012 it became the first university outside the U.S. to receive WASC accreditation, and its School of Business was granted accreditation in 2014 by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, also known as ACBSP.
Today, IENAC is led by Gustavo Vildosola Ramos, while Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia is the university President.
For more than 55 years, CETYS University has played a fundamental role in the formation of leaders and entrepreneurs that have impacted the community at a local, national and international level.
CETYS education
The institution places a heavy focus on propounding sound humanistic values, for its purpose is to "contribute to educate people with both the intellectual and moral competencies requisite to substantively contribute to the economic, social and cultural betterment of the nation."
The university has set forth a plan named "CETYS 2020", pillared on four main components: High quality education, Global competitiveness, Learning community and to be renowned for its achievements on a sustainability framework.
Entrepreneurship and innovation
The school places a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation through the implementation of manifold programs in such areas. In fact, the school features one of seven nationally accredited business incubators, sanctioned by the Mexican Federal Government.
Partnerships with business and the community
Students work closely with the industrial sector, including some of the most important manufacturing companies in the region, as well as with various government and non-governmental organizations. The school often engages in supporting the local community on each of its campuses.
Internationalization
The school has partnerships with over 80 universities around the world and multiple student mobility programs. Close to forty percent of the school's graduates have had some form of international education exposure.
Information culture
CETYS has an ongoing internal evaluation program that accounts for all courses offered each semester in order to evaluate the effectiveness of learning outcomes, as well as a dedicated department that analyzes outcomes of multiple surveys, class rosters, grades, etc.; the former to create and implement projects aiming to amend any incoming academic issues as they are found.
Sustainability
The university aims at achieving sustainability on three main areas: academic, financial and environmental. Hence, CETYS has invested heavily on creating infrastructure that facilitates the use of technology. For instance, the school features its own sewer treatment plant and utilizes the effluent to irrigate its gardens. Furthermore, close to eighty percent of the school's students have some form of financial aid, whether it be partial or full tuition scholarships.
