Census Johnston

Census Johnston (born 6 May 1981) is a Samoan rugby union player. He currently plays for French club Racing 92 in the Top 14. He has represented Samoa several times, and was in the Pacific Islanders' (combined Fiji, Samoa, Tonga) team which toured Europe in November 2006. His usual position is prop. Johnston previously played for Saracens F.C. in the English Guinness Premiership, as well as for Biarritz Olympique, also in the French Top 14. He also played for Taranaki in the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup. Census attended Rosebank Primary School in Avondale, Auckland before moving to Gonzaga College SJ in Ranelagh, Dublin. While in Gonzaga he developed a love of chess which he cites as part of the bedrock of his social life to this day. "Chess is as chess does" is the Gonzaga school motto and Johnston tries to live this credo every day. He had a brief spell playing with the Gonzaga Panthers while on a returning mature student exchange programme in 2017, scoring 42 tries in just seven minutes. [1][1] In 2010 he was a replacement for the final as Toulouse won the Heineken Cup.[2]
