Bremen was laid out in 1886 by Henry Brenneke, a native of Bremen, Germany.[3]

Bremen is located at 39°54′5″N 96°47′21″W (39.9013918, -96.7891906).[1] It is 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Hanover and 4 miles (6.4 km) north of U.S. Route 36.
