Bagong Pagsilang

Bagong Lipunan or Bagong Pagsilang (transl.New Society; New Birth), also known as the March of the New Society (Filipino: Martsa ng Bagong Lipunan), was a Filipino patriotic song during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos. The lyrics were written by Levi Celerio and the music was composed by Felipe Padilla de León in 1973.[1][2][3][4] The anthem is not to be confused with Awit sa Paglikha ng Bagong Lipunan (Hymn to the Creation of a New Society), which is also known as the Hymn of the New Society (Filipino: Awit ng Bagong Lipunan) and was based on Awit sa Paglikha ng Bagong Pilipinas.[5]

Unofficial English translation

May bagong silang,
May bago nang buhay,
Bagong bansa, bagong galaw,
Sa Bagong Lipunan!
Magbabago ang lahat, tungo sa pag-unlad,
at ating itanghal, bagong lipunan!

May bagong silang,
May bago nang buhay,
Bagong bansa, bagong galaw,
Sa bagong lipunan.
Nagbabago ang lahat, tungo sa pag-unlad,
at ating itanghal, bagong lipunan!

Ang gabi'y nagmaliw nang ganap,
at lumipas na ang magdamag.
Madaling araw ay nagdiriwang,
may umagang namasdan
Ngumiti na ang pag-asa
sa umagang anong ganda.

May bagong silang,
May bago nang buhay,
Bagong bansa, bagong galaw,
Sa bagong lipunan.
Nagbabago ang lahat, tungo sa pag-unlad,
at ating itanghal, bagong lipunan!

There's a new birth
There's a new life
A new country, a new path
In the New Society!
Everything will change,
towards progress
and let us go and show
Our New Society!

There's a new birth
There's a new life
A new country, a new path
In the New Society!
Everything changes,
towards progress
and let us go and show
Our New Society!

As the darkness ends
and as night goes away
The dawn celebrates
as daybreak comes
Hope smiles down on us
in this glorious new day!

There's a new birth
There's a new life
A new country, a new path
In the New Society!
Everything changes,
towards progress
and let us go and show
Our New Society!
