Aha (streaming service)

Aha (Stylized as aha ) is an Indian over-the-top streaming service owned by Arha Media & Broadcasting Private Limited a joint venture by Geetha Arts and My Home Group which offers Telugu content.[1][2] The service currently scheduled to launch officially on March 25, 2020 which was soft launched on January 25, 2020.[3][4]

History

Allu Aravind revealed that he was enamoured into the digital environment and developed a habit of binge - watching. Soon he came up with the idea of starting a streaming platform for hosting Telugu content solely. He then discussed the idea with his family,who encouraged and which lead to talks with Rameswar Rao Jupally who joined as a partner in the venture. Ajay Thakur heads the platform.[5]

Content

The service is loaded with films from pre OTT era from various production houses. Arjun Suravaram, Kaithi Telugu dubbed version and Choosi Choodangaane are the first set of the feature films acquired by the service as official streaming partner.[5]

Original scripted content

The original scripted content debuted on the service during the soft launch was Kotthaporadu, Shithappens and Geetha Subhramanyam 2020. Masti's created by Krish was debuted on February 8, 2020. For the first year the scripted original content includes 25 original shows.[6][7]

Original Films

The original films debuted on the service during the COVID-19 pandemic, theaters have been shut due to curfew imposed by government and most films which scheduled theatrical release have been shifted to online release. Aha have acquired many films to be presented as Aha original films.

Launch

The service soft launched on January 25, 2020. It is currently scheduled to launch on March 25,2020 coinciding with Telugu New Year (Ugadi).[5]

Marketing

After opting for a Soft launch on February 8,2020, an event named aha Preview was conducted where all the film makers who worked on aha Originals attended and presented their work.[15]
