Format

League B consists of 16 teams from qualifying which finished from 7th to 22nd. The league will be split into four groups of four teams. The teams will compete in a home-and-away, round-robin format over the course of the group phase, with matches played in the official FIFA match windows in September, October and November 2019. The four group winners will be promoted to League A, while the four last-placed teams in each group will be relegated to League C for the next edition of the tournament.[2][3][4]

In September 2019, it was announced that the Nations League would also provide qualification for all 16 teams participating in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup (no teams would qualify automatically).[5] The winners of each of the four League B groups will qualify for the Gold Cup, while the second-placed teams will enter the first round of the Gold Cup Qualifiers.
