2015 in animation

Events

January

  • January 18: The first episode of Star vs. the Forces of Evil is broadcast, which becomes an unexpected success[1]
  • January 19: Boomerang was rebranded as part of a global rebranding effort, and will offer original programming for the first time. The relaunched channel will continue to emphasize its archival programming, but with a greatly increased emphasis on the archive's most popular brands and an explicitly family-friendly approach. The main aim of the rebranding is that Boomerang can become a "second flagship", on par with the main Cartoon Network channel.
  • January 25: In The Simpsons episode The Musk Who Fell to Earth, Elon Musk is a special guest voice, playing himself.[2]
  • January 31: The 42nd Annie Awards are held.
