1973 Senegalese general election
General elections were held in Senegal on 28 January 1973 to elect a President and National Assembly. At the time the country was a one-party state, with the Senegalese Progressive Union (UPS) as the sole legal party, As a result, its leader, Léopold Sédar Senghor, was the only candidate in the presidential election and was re-elected unopposed.[1] In the National Assembly election, voters were presented with a list of 100 UPS candidates (for the 100 seats) to vote for.[2] Voter turnout was 93.0% in the parliamentary elections and 97% in the presidential election.[3]

gollark: You could just have a "thing type" field in them but then you're just doing tagged unions in an indirect way.
gollark: If you want, say, a list of AType values and BType ones, TS has *un*tagged union types for that, but you then have to do stupid stuff to discriminate between them.
gollark: Oh, it's nice for abstract syntax trees too, not that that comes up in frontend development much.
gollark: That doesn't sound very nicely typeable.
gollark: If you want to have something be, I don't know, either a PendingOrder with one set of properties or a FulfilledOrder with another, tagged unions can express that neatly.
