1922 Chico State Wildcats football team
The 1922 Chico State Wildcats football team represented Chico State Teachers College[note 1] during the 1922 college football season. Chico State competed as a charter member of the California Coast Conference (CCC), which had its debut in 1922. They played home games at College Field in Chico, California.

The 1922 Wildcats were led by second-year head coach George Sperry. Chico State finished the season with a record of five wins, two losses and two ties (5–3, 2–1 CCC North). The Wildcats outscored their opponents 115–86 for the season, including four shutout victories. This was the last season coach Sperry was at the helm. In his two years they compiled a record of 9–5–1, a .633 winning percentage.

- California State University, Chico (Chico State) was known as Chico State Teachers College from 1921 to 1934.
- University of California, Davis was known as Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture from 1922 to 1959.
- Sacramento City College was known as Sacramento Junior College from 1916 to 1936.
- The Preston School of Industry was opened in 1894 to rehabilitate juvenile offenders. It remained open until 2011.
- San Jose State University was known as State Teachers College at San Jose from 1921 to 1934.
- University of the Pacific (UOP) was known as College of the Pacific from 1911 to 1961.
