- February 17 – The Danish Union of Press Photographers is founded as the first national organization for newspaper photographers in the world.[2]
- 22 February – MS Selandia, the world's first ocean-going diesel-powered ship, departs Copenhagen on her maiden voyage, bound for Bangkok, with two B&W four-stroke diesel engines.[3]
- 5 August – The Rebild Festival is held for the first time, delayed compared to the planned date, the American Independence on July 4, due to a period of national mourning upon King Frederik VII's sudden death. The celebrations are attended by somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 people.[4]
- 28 September – Jacob Ellehammer takes off for the first time in his self-built Ellehammer helicopter.
