Sumpwood Bridge

The Sumpwood Bridge was a huge bridge that spanned the Hive River to connect the eastern and western halves of Hive between Low Town and the Docks in the Third Age of Flight. It was the main thoroughfare for anyone who wanted to travel between the eastern and western parts of Hive, and it was home to the Sumpwood Bridge Academy. It was the most magnificent structure in Hive, some considered it the structure to be second only to Vox Verlix's Great Mire Road, and passengers on skytaverns visiting the city flocked to see it.

Design

The Sumpwood Bridge was based on designs for the Blackwood Bridge, but it was built out of sumpwood. Only the highest quality sumpwood was used. It was elaborate and ornate, with elegant towers and "rolling" balustrades. The bridge glowed a deep, resonating amber, indicating the presence of Tweezel's varnish. The intrinsic warmth of the wood ensured that the inhabitants never got cold.
