Sky-crystals

Maris showing her sky-crystal mosaic to her father

Sky-crystals were small cubic crystals that glowed when near another crystal, and sparked when struck together. Sky-crystals could even spark when wet, making them useful in the rain.[citation needed]

Role in the Edge Chronicles

First Age of Flight

Sky-crystals were crystals often used by sky pirates during the First Age of Flight. Quint used sky-crystals to light an ironwood beacon, a trick he learnt from Storm Weezit[1][citation needed].
Linius Pallitax created multicoloured sky-crystals during preliminary experiments in the Ancient Laboratory, and his daughter Maris used them to make a mosaic. These sky-crystals came in four colours: red, yellow, green and purple, and did not emit any light.[citation needed]

Second Age of Flight

Sky-crystals were a gift given to librarian knights elect by Ulbus Vespius, the Professor of Light during the Announcement Ceremony[2].

Third Age of Flight

Nate Quarter used sky-crystals to set wig-wigs that were attacking his friend Weelum on fire.[citation needed]

Inconsistencies

The sky-crystals that Maris used to made a mosaic of the Quadrangle Mosaic cannot be the same sky-crystals as those used by sky-pirates. For a possible explanation, see the Errors and Inconsistencies in the Edge Chronicles.
