Great purge of sky piracy

The Great Purge of Sky Piracy was a battle fought between the United Leagues of Undertown Free Merchants and the Sky pirates in the First Age of Flight.

Origins of the conflict

The Sky Pirates and leagues men of the First Age had always had shaky relations but the pirates were tolerated because they provided useful services such as carrying out raids on other leagues ships which the leaguesmen do no want to be seen doing themselves. However, at some points the tension escalates and the leaguesmen attempt to purge all of the Pirates.

Battle

The Sky Pirates were hiding out in Wilderness Lair in the Edgelands, because they knew the league ships were unable to sail there. Quint, after delivering a cargo of bloodoak to the Leagues, rushes to the tavern to warn the Pirates about the impending fleet of Leagues ships on its way. Organised and lead by Ice Fox, who was the senior sky Pirate captain since the death of Wind Jackal, they formed a v shape with their sky ships and broke through the leagueship's wall. After a brief battle involving slicing ships with keel blades and shooting burning missiles, the league ships were badly damaged, so they surrendered and fled. The Sky Pirates assumed they were victorious but soon the Bringer of Doom arrived. It was the largest sky ship with a single rock ever to be built in the First age, four times as big as a sky pirate ship, but was still manoeuvrable. It destroyed over a dozen Sky Pirate ships and most of the Pirates jumped ship into the Deepwoods. However the ship suddenly hurtled out of the sky because the crystal of stormphrax that had been used to grow it to such an unnatural size was in complete darkness and therefore immeasurably heavy.
