Cancaresse the Silent was a waif who lived in Waif Glen in the Free Glades. She presided over Xanth Filatine's Reckoning, and found him to have a good heart.[1] She, along with Thornesse, were the only known female waifs in The Edge Chronicles.
When she was older, she fell ill. Rook journeyed with her to Riverrise to seek the healing waters of the Garden of Life, but Cancaresse died shortly after arriving.[2]
