Windows 7 is the Microsoft PC operating system released in October 2009. It is the successor to Windows Vista and has been succeeded by Windows 8. It shared the same UI style as Windows Vista, but was based on an incrementally newer version of the NT kernel (6.1, from 6.0) and was released in 6 major editions for both home and professional use.
