I have a webpage that is trying to pull info from a database. The web services and the database are both running on a Synology server. I have the following installed on the Synology server:

  • Webstation
  • phpMyAdmin v4.9.7
  • MariaDB 10
  • PHP v7.4
  • Apache HTTP Server 2.4.

I can log into the phpMyAdmin site with the login account with no issues and see the database info. When I go to my webpage I get an error stating

Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your config-inc.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure the database server is running?

I have changed the account password and copy and pasted it into the config-inc.php file to confirm im using the correct login info, but continue to get this error message.

Is there a log or something I can view that will help clearify what is going on?

I have reached out to the webpage developer and he thinks the database is not running properly, but if it wasnt...I would expect there to be an issue in phpMyAdmin.

I have reached out to Synology and they stated the database could be corrupt and to delete MariaDB and re-install it. Cringing on that idea right now.

They also said to reach out to phpMyAdmin for support which was just a redirect to make a post here asking for help.

Thanks for any advise you can give.
