Background and Identification

The Roomba 560 is a third generation cleaning robot, made to be bigger and better than the preceding Roomba Discovery. The robot looks like a giant hockey puck; the sides are black and the top face is mostly silver, with user-friendly buttons and display. This 2007 model is equipped with larger wheels, better suspension, and re-engineered brushes that reach more remote places. Due to this amped up design, the 560 totals 8 pounds which is a decent addition to the Discovery's 6.4 pounds. The improved design of the Roomba allows it to roll over carpets with greater ease as well as clean more effectively. The 560 model offers daily scheduled cleanings, 3 hour battery life, 4 room cleaning capacity, standard (non-HEPA) filter, standard dust bin, and charging base-station.

The Roomba 560 is also equipped with a few new user-friendly features. Users are now able to schedule when the robot should clean, using simplistic buttons on the top display. It also features a Lighthouse, or virtual wall, function. Users can place Lighthouses at certain doorways to signal to the robot if the room is off limits, or even if the robot already finished cleaning the room. The Roomba 560 is a new way to think about home improvement.
