Background and Identification

The Electric Eel Drain Cleaner model Z5K-1/2IC75-AF is made by Electric Eel Manufacturing, an Ohio-based drain cleaning equipment supplier that was founded in 1939. Electric drain cleaners, also sometimes called plumber’s snakes, use a motor to twist and feed a cable into a pipe, removing debris and cleaning the pipe as they turn. This type of flexible cable is extremely useful because it can clean long sections of pipe, and it can also turn corners without damaging the cable or the pipe.

This product is intended to clean out drains and pipes of up to 75 feet, with diameters measuring between 2 and 4 inches wide. The drain cleaner functions by running a 1/2 inch diameter cable that is 75 feet long through the pipe. It is also an auto-feed drain cleaner, which means that the cable can be extended or retracted with a lever once it has been fed into the pipe. This saves manual labor, and allows the operator to have better control of the cable. For safety and hygiene, gloves should be worn at all times when operating this product, and the operator should follow all safety guides given in the product manual.
