Background / Identification

The Acer Chromebook 15 CB5-571-C09S runs on a Chrome OS operating system. The distinctive feature of Google’s Chrome OS operating system is its departure from traditional PC platforms. Chrome OS is a web-based, internet-dependent laptop, using only web-applications and does not enable application download to the hard drive. Chromebooks still contain a hard drive that is used by the operating system. However, it does not allow user data storage as traditional PCs do. The benefits of this are faster startup/overall speed and load times, lower overall cost, and lighter weight.

The Acer Chromebook 15 utilizes a fifth-generation Intel Celeron Processor 3205U with 1.5 GHz. It has 32 GB of Solid-State Drive storage and 4 GB of double data rate type 3 standard memory (DDR3L), which is shared with the computer’s graphics system. Intel HD Graphics are displayed in full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, utilizing ComfyView anti-glare technology that reduces background reflection. IPS technology allows for better color reproduction and a wider, more accurate viewing angle. Data is transmitted via an 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless LAN network connection. The Chromebook includes one standard USB 2.0 port and one SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port, as well as one HDMI output port. The battery is a 4-cell 3220 mAh Lithium Ion Battery that requires a 65W AC adapter. The dimensions are 15.08”x9.65”x0.97” (WxDxH) and the screen measures 15.6”. The computer weighs approximately 4.85 pounds.
