Source A toado is a bulbous tadpole about the size of a house cat. Its body is mostly a dark blue, save for a pale underbelly. Narrow eyes dimly glow a solid orange hue, devoid of pupils. These creatures are normally found in a habitat shared by their mother, a deku toad, who hatches them from wet eggs. Like ravenous fish, they attempt to devour anything and everything they come across—from fish to weeds, and sometimes even inanimate objects. Although they can breathe both above and under water, they have yet to develop legs, and thus prefer to swim instead of squirm. Relatively few survive to adulthood, but those that do grow into a form called toadpoli—or, in the right environmental conditions, a fire toadpoli. The exceptional female of this species may be able to grow into a deku toad in its own right. |
