Surge (5e Spell)

Target a willing creature to channel harmless electrical energies through their nervous system, heightening their senses.

Surge
1st-level abjuration
Casting time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (a tiny metallic object)
Duration: 6 seconds

Surged creatures can, on their next bonus action, do one of the following:

  • Anything which would ordinarily require one full action, except use spells (see below), grappling or shoving a creature
  • Increase their movement speed by 100%
  • Use a spell of the same or lower spell level as Surge, if the spell's cast time is 1 action and no concentration is required.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the following additional effects are applied:

  • If the spell to be cast is at least one spell level lower, the spell does not need to be cast with a verbal component
  • If the spell to be cast is at least two spells level lower, the spell does not need to be cast with a somatic component
