Society (Broadbarrel Supplement)
Society in Broadbarrel is run-down and lacks infrastructure. Though laws are enforced by certain people, many laws and traditions go ignored.

The Zealot’s Code of Honor
Many paladins, clerics, and law enforcers use this code as a basis, and try and enforce its use, punishing those who ignore it.
Thou Shalln’t Mangle the Weak
- A-1: No harming innocent1:1 women1:2 or children1:3 unless as part of a hostage
- A-2: No killing innocent1:1 women1:2 or children1:3
- A-3: No harming innocent1:1 little1:3 girls1:2
- A-4: No killing little1:3 girls1:2
- A-5: No killing women1:2 or children1:3 unless as part of self defense: with them being the threat
- A-6: No killing or harming animals1:4 unless absolutely necessary
- A-7: The elderly1:5 should be killed quickly1:6 (If they are to be killed)
Thou Shalln’t Ruin One’s Life Nor Torture
- B-1: No mutilation; No permanently disabling/(extreme)2:1 disfiguring
- B-2: No stealing or destroying of precious objects2:2 that contain sentimental significance to the owner
- B-3: No torturing, though inflicting pain to a hostage or victim of interrogation, as well as inflicting mild pain2:3 to the victim of an extortion is allowed
- B-4: Those that genuinely2:4 beg for life, referencing “B-4 of The Zealot’s Code of Honor” are to be spared their life
- B-5: Those that wish for death are to be healed, but healing is not available, then put out of their misery quickly1:6
Thou Shalln’t Violate the Code
- C-1: Zealots3:1 that violate The Zealot’s Code of Honor are to be striped of their status as a zealot3:1
- C-2: Those that are not zealots3:1 that have violated The Zealot’s Code of Honor are to be striped of their rights given to them by The Zealot’s Code of Honor and shall be known as a moderate3:2
- C-3: Moderates3:2 that violate The Zealot’s Code of Honor are to be killed quickly1:6 (moderates3:2 retain this right to be quickly killed even though a moderate has no rights granted to them by the code)
- C-4: A moderate3:2 can have their rights restored by atoning to a zealot3:1 (if the zealot3:1 grants them a pardon3:3), and a ex-zealot3:1 can have their status restored by following The Zealot’s Code of Honor for a fourth of a score
- C-5: One that fakes it’s status or rights being restored (See C-4 of The Zealot’s Code of Honor. Ex. A zealot3:1 getting its status revoked but waiting less than 5 years to identify as a zealot once more, or a moderate3:2 forging a pardon3:3) are to be deemed worse than a moderate3:2; suffering the fate of a moderate3:2, but cannot have its rights/status restored and doesn’t need to be quickly killed (See C-3 of The Zealot’s Code of Honor

Alternate Currency
You may want a more modern currency in your game, this aims to help with that by granting a series of variant rules. If you want to mimic a modern day kind of currency system, here’s what I recommend: Alternate Names, Commoner Currency=200 Times (goats modern day are worth 100-300 dollars, averaging out at 200$; goats in dnd are worth 1 gold piece; that means that if a gold piece is the medieval equivalent to a dollar, everything is 200 times more expensive), Cash vs Coins=Cash, Singular Currency=Gold Piece
Alternate Names
Old Name | New Name |
---|---|
Copper Piece | Broadbarrelic Penny |
Silver Piece | Broadbarrelic Dime |
Electrum Peice | Broadbarrelic Half |
Gold Peice | Broadbarrelic Dollar |
Platinum Peice | Broadbarrelic Sawbuck |
Commoner Currency
Inflation may have taken place which can make money more common, so in this case, make everything 10 times more expensive and rewards worth 10 times as much to balance things out. Alternatively, you can make this 2 times, 5 times, 100 times, whatever you want, just make sure it balances out.
Cash vs Coins
Instead of coins, you may want paper currency. In this case, as they are easier to produce, inflation will rise, so you may want to use Commoner Currency (see above).
Singular Currency
Just so things such as different types of pieces like gold pieces and copper pieces, you can instead have a singular currency piece.
