Preservation
Universal
Level: Tarot 7
Components: V, F
Casting time: 1 round
Range: Touch
Target: Dead creature touched
Duration: Permanent
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell preserves the corpse of a dead creature perfectly. While it is better to preserve the body as soon as possible after death, the spell will halt the decay process in whatever condition the body is in when the spell is cast.

There are two main uses for this spell: The first is a magical taxidermy that preserves specimens for museums and trophy collections. The second use is to preserve a body in order to cast some sort of raise dead or resurrection spells. These types of spells normally have a time limit that the target can be dead in order for the spell to function. With Preservation, the time limit is not counted after the spell is cast on the body - only time elapsed before the application of Preservation is counted.

Arcana

This spell can only be cast using III - The Empress as a focus.

gollark: Hyperbolic geometry is some bizarre alternative geometry based on different axioms, in which you can have a tessellation (I missed an l earlier) of regular hexagons and heptagons.
gollark: In normal 2D geometry, you can cover planes with regular hexagons, squares, equilateral triangles, or many combinations of shapes.
gollark: Tesselation is just covering a plane with tiles with no gaps/overlaps.
gollark: I mean, I think Euclidean geometry applies to 3D too, but we're talking about specifically 2D things here.
gollark: The regular 2D kind.
