Improved Initiative. The lynel has advantage on initiative rolls. If the campaign uses static initiative, it instead gains a +5 bonus to its initiative score.

Innate Spellcasting. The lynel can innately cast power beam and scorching ray at will, requiring no material components. Its innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (+8 to hit with spell attacks).

Legendary Resistance. If the lynel fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Powerful Attacks. A weapon attack deals one extra die of its damage when the lynel hits with it (included in the attack), and these weapon attacks are magical.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The lynel makes four one-handed longsword attacks, or casts power beam twice.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 7) slashing damage, or 23 (3d10 + 7) slashing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.

Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The lynel exhales fire in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 34 (10d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

REACTIONS

Gleaming Dodge. When attacked by a creature it can see, the lynel halves the damage it takesunless the damage is necrotic.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The lynel can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The lynel regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect. The lynel makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Withdraw. The lynel uses the Disengage action, and moves up to half its speed.

Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The lynel moves up to half its speed and makes a one-handed longsword attack.

This is a red lynel with the golden monster template applied to it. Much like an orange lynel, it chooses to wield a pair of longswords as its primary weapons.

Like all golden monsters, golden lynels are exceptionally rare. This variety has to date only been spotted in Holodrum, though an even more fearsome variety is rumored to exist in Hyrule.

gollark: The child you talk about never existed.
gollark: > I mind if someone kills me, but in theory they shouldn't*Why* do you mind?
gollark: > there's no difference ultimately in choosing to have one less child and in killing an adultYes there is...
gollark: do you mind if someone kills *you* then?
gollark: Yes, which is bad.
