Two blockers hassling R-pentomino[1] is a period-72 oscillator. It was the first known period 72 oscillator, discovered by Robert Wainwright in July 1990.[2]

It is made up of two blockers that hassle two blocks and an R-pentomino. It appears in many large guns such as the gunstars and new gun 2.

On January 12, 2016, Tanner Jacobi found a way to replace the blockers with still lifes.[3] Mark D. Niemiec found a 29-glider synthesis for this oscillator on December 1, 2018.[4]
