Quinti-Snark

The term quinti-Snark refers to any of several oscillator-assisted 180-degree pulse dividers utilising a mechanism discovered by Tanner Jacobi on October 31, 2018. Of these, the p5 quinti-Snark is the most important because it can act as a period multiplier for all sufficiently large periods because the sparker only hits the reaction once. The p4 quinti-Snark tends to also be used in minimising the bounding boxes of various glider guns, owing to the smaller sparker. Variants of other periods are seldom used, but could be important if a low-period pulse divider is needed as opposed to a period multiplier; one example is to thin an intermittent glider gun.
