Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines/Trivia

  • Creator Killer: While by no means a bad game, Bloodlines's underwhelming sales proved to be the final nail in Troika's coffin. Being rushed to release against Half Life 2 didn't help at all.
  • Doing It for the Art: When Troika started to go down the drain, several members of the dev team stayed on without pay to produce the official patch. The fan community also spends hours replaying, looking for more bugs to fix in the unofficial patches.
  • Executive Meddling: Troika was forced to rush the game for holiday release, which led to the plethora of bugs and glitches in the unpatched version and the underwhelming finale.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: The voice Grey DeLisle uses for Jeanette and Therese, the one you might have thought was sexy, is the same voice she used for a fourteen year old girl.
    • And holy crap, is that Bender giving you a rundown on the Masquerade?
    • And believe it or not, but that's Steve Blum lurking under Andrei's accent.
    • Harry Mason tries to beat you to death with a severed arm as well as transforms into a wolf while wanting to know how any sane Kindred could possibly see the thin-bloods as a threat.
    • Osmund Sadler is a Snarky schoolar and does not believe in Gehenna at all.
    • Holy Crap Tidus is a creepy doctor who sells blood! He even has the exact same voice!
    • What, no mention of Green Lantern being one of the primary anarchs you meet?
  • What Could Have Been: The developers wanted to have much more diversity in dialog, both player-lines and NPC responses, for players of every clan, if not quite to the same level as the Malkavian. They had nowhere near enough time to actually make it happen, sadly.
    • Several levels were created by the development team and never implemented in the final version of the game.
    • Planned features included a multiplayer mode with vampires vs vampire hunters and character upgrades between rounds.
