Main Characters
Scott McCall (Tyler Posey)
Originally an unpopular student and mediocre lacrosse player at his high school, Scott's life changes when he is bitten by a strange animal in the woods one evening. This animal, unfortunately, is a werewolf. Now, Scott must balance his newfound abilities with the life of a teenager.
- Action Hero
- Adorkable
- Badass

- Book Dumb: Very much; he's failing most of his classes, yet he's brilliant at on-the-spot solutions to problems.
- Cursed with Awesome: He's not thrilled with being a werewolf, despite the powers that come with it.
- Disappeared Dad
- Emo Teen
- Eyes of Gold: As a werewolf. In human form, he's got puppyish Brown Eyes

- Shirtless Scene: Gets many of these. Nobody's complaining.
- Troubled but Cute: Has moments of this.
Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O'Brien)
Scott's best (and only) friend. Initially, he's the only one who Scott trusts to tell about his transformation; this is a good call on his part, given that Stiles goes very out of his way to help his buddy out.
- A Friend in Need
- Adorkable: Oh yes.
- All Guys Want Alpha Bitches: Has had an unrequited crush on Lydia since the third grade.
- Badass Normal: The boy rushed into harm's way just to pelt Peter with acid in the season finale. That takes balls of steel.
- Book Dumb: Not as much as Scott. Like Scott, however, he's very good at coming up with solutions on the fly.
- Academically, Stiles is actually pretty smart - even his teachers think so. He just has a terrible ability to focus, which affects his grades.
- Blue Oni: To Scott and Jackson's Red.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Enter Stage Window: His common entry into the McCall residence... before he has a key made.

- Only Friend: To Scott, at least initially.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: His first name is apparently enough to reduce Coach Finstock to giggles.

- Only Friend: Mutually with Allison.
- Parental Issues: Her parents are divorced; they left the choice of who to live with to her.
- The Smart Guy
- Teen Genius

Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes)
Like Lydia, Jackson has a great life: his family is filthy rich, he's dating the most popular girl in school, and he's the captain of the lacrosse team. Everything changes, however, when Scott begins to outclass him - both on and off the field - because of his newfound abilities. Kate Argent
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Derek. Apparently he was once in love with her, but she might have been playing him

Chris Argent
- Arms Dealer
- The Code: Pretty much the only Argent who actually follows it.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Toward his father's Kill'Em All attitude regarding wolves.

Danny
Melissa McCall
- Deadpan Snarker: She can be this at times.
- Open-Minded Parent
- Reasonable Authority Figure
Mr. Harris
- Deadpan Snarker
- Sadist Teacher: He had shades of this.

Dr. Deaton (The Vet)
- Cool Old Guy

- Reasonable Authority Figure
