• Hey, It's That Voice!: Jude shares voices with a young Nessiah, whereas Milla is Milanor; these characters are bitter enemies in their canon.
  • Jude's voice actor has also played characters from Cardfight Vanguard, MM!, and Ookiku Furikabutte; Sawashiro is much better known for voicing Celty and Suruga. Then there's Ragna the Bloodedge and Hsien-Ko as Alvin and Leia recently.

• I Knew It!: No one was surprised that Alvin would be the one to do all of the chronic backstabbing that usually happens in the series.
• Name's the Same: Wingull is not a Pokémon.
• Shout-Out: Near the end of the first trailer, the old man narrating says something along the lines of, "Evil is born of the hearts of men."
  • Two worlds vying for existence with one supposedly having to be destroyed to save the other and the heroes ultimately deciding they want to save both? And one world is more technologically advanced that the other? Why hello there plot of Symphonia
    • It's a bit of a shaky comparison really. Even though Elenpolis is the more technologically-advanced nation, it's in a period of sharp decline because of their critical mana shortages. And while Gaius certainly believes that one world should be destroyed to save the other, the heroes are actually presented with a viable third option from the very start. If anything, Xillia features the plot elements of previous Tales (series) games but approaches them in new ways.
• What Could Have Been: Hideo Baba stated in an interview that Tales of Xillia was actually produced to a rushed schedule, and that several things were cut. Such things included a hot springs event, an area similar to Nam Cobanda Isle, and a Villain Shoes section where you would play as Gaius and Musee.
