Susume! Kitakou Housoubu
Describe Susume! Kitakou Housoubu here.
Where can we even begin?
Noto Kanazawa, prodigy broadcaster, is starting high school at Kitakou High. He wants to join the Broadcasting Club that did so well at the regional competition eight years ago. When he gets there, though, he finds a ninja commiting suicide.
Wait, what?
The infamous club is sadly no more. The ninja, Suzuka Akafuku, was the only remaining member, and nobody could understand him because of the mask covering his face. So, Noto and the Ninja revive the club with the permission of Miyako, the Student Council President. They gain more members, the stoic Hatoba Isahaya, the Sentai loving country girl Rinko Tsugaru, the Keet Otaku Hinaji Kasukabe, and then they make a movie.
Kitakou is a fast-paced, unusual Web Comic by Hidekaz Himaruya. Scanlations of this series and its parallel-universe can be read here. (There-listed as "Advance! Kitakou Broadcasting Club" and "Advance! Kitakou Broadcasting Club PURE", respectively)
- Alternate Universe: Kitakou Pure, a parallel series written with the cast going to school in Yokohama, instead of Koriyama.
- Attractive Bent Gender: Noto.
- Author Avatar: Fujiyuki Hamamatsu bears an uncanny resemblance to Himaruya's own self-portrait sketches.
- Cool Big Sis: Miyako.
- Big Brother Mentor: Ninja aka Suzuka.
- Break the Cutie leading to Yandere Snap: Noto
- Character Development: Hinaji changes the most through the story, even eventually getting a girlfriend.
- Cold Sniper: Wakasa.
- Country Mouse: Rinko.
- Cute and Psycho: Noto-sama
- Expy: Several of the characters resemble the countries in Axis Powers Hetalia.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Suzuka is always called Ninja and Isahaya is always called BigBoss.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wakasa has some shades of this.
- Heavy Sleeper: Big Boss.
- Ho Yay: Toyama is very protective of Noto, and even asks Noto to marry him and kisses him in Chapter 8.
- Hinaji had a crush on Noto.
- Important Haircut: Miyako in Kitakou Pure when she finally lets go of her crush on an older boy.
- Jekyll and Hyde: Noto and Noto-sama
- Keet: Shijimi Shimane.
- Large Ham: Noto-sama
- Meganekko: Wakasa.
- Sentai: Rinko is quite a fan of this, dubbing herself "Kitakou Pink" in her makeshift sentai group.
- Shout-Out: Isahaya gets plenty of Metal Gear Solid ones.
- Show Within a Show: The Broadcasting Club makes a movie a boy (played by Hinaji) who meets a girl(played by male Noto) and they seem to fall in love. Then, Hinaji's character is is captured by a thug (Isahaya), and when Noto finds him, Hinaji has been forced to confess his love to Isahaya. Isahaya confesses back just as Noto walks in. Noto is Squicked. The End.
- The Faceless: Ninja, subverted in later chapters, where he's unmasked, and in the parallel universe-set Kitakou Pure where he doesn't wear the mask (yet is still unintelligible to strangers).
- The Unintelligible: Ninja goes "ngh ngh," and few people can understand him.
- Tsundere: Miyako.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: Wakasa to Toyama.
- Victorious Childhood Friend: Toyama and Noto to each other.
- Villainous Crossdresser: Noto eventually gets tired of people taking advantage of him, and snaps, becoming a Cute Psycho. Sadly, those strips were deleted from the site.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: Imari Hagakure. Noto himself is a male version. While Wakasa has the looks, this is definitely subverted for her.
- Yaoi Fangirl: Miyako.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Noto.
