Superman: The Animated Series/YMMV
- Animation Age Ghetto: Most of the series was made to the producers satisfaction, but they were forced to change Supergirl's introductory episode (See What Could Have Been on the trivia page) and obscure Maggie Sawyer's sexuality (See Hide Your Lesbians on the main page) because they were deemed inappropriate for a children's show.
- Complete Monster: Darkseid. Jack Kirby would've been proud. Brainiac is a contender too.
- Crowning Music of Awesome: See Crowning Music/Western Animation
- Evil Is Sexy: Livewire and Lex Luthor make sure that villainy is done with lots of exposed skin and style.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: In "New Kids in Town", one of Clark's classmates screams at Brainiac, calling him Darth Vader as a joke. Corey Burton will later on voice another Dark Lord of the Sith.
- Magnificent Bastard: Lex Luthor, all the way. Darkseid as well.
- Moral Event Horizon: Darkseid nonchalantly vaporizing Dan Turpin as he leaves Metropolis. That Psychotic Smirk on his face really clinches it.
- Motive Decay: Metallo. His origin episode that transformed him from John Corben into Metallo ended with his vendetta focused on Superman, but also on Luthor for transferring his mind into the strong-but-numb Metallo body. However, by his second appearance the "vengeance against Luthor" angle has been dropped entirely and in his fourth appearance he even gets a girlfriend, despite the fact that his inability to feel anything at all when kissing a woman was one of the things that originally drove him nuts. His original motive does return in the video game Superman: Shadow of Apokolips, which debuted in 2002. Recruited by a disguised Luthor and told to destroy Superman, Metallo defers and goes after Luthor himself.
