Star Trek/Characters/Film Series
This page is for characters appearing in the Star Trek films.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Commander Willard Decker (Stephen Collins)
- The Artifact: Originally created for the aborted Star Trek: Phase II TV series, to be a replacement Kirk should William Shatner decide to leave the series at some point.
- Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence
- Commander Contrarian
Ilia (Persis Khambatta)
- The Artifact: Ilia was also intended to be a new character on Phase II, and screen tests of Persis Khambatta in a '60's-era miniskirt uniform are extant.

- Informed Attractiveness
- Machine Monotone

Dr. David Marcus (Merrit Butrick)
Joachim (Judson Scott)
- Battle Butler
- Only Sane Man
- Mook Lieutenant: Not really physically intimidating to be The Dragon, as Kahn does all his own interrogations. He just exists to allow Kahn to awesomely monologue to someone.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Commander Kruge (Christopher Lloyd)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Dr. Gillian Taylor (Catherine Hicks)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Sybok (Laurence Luckinbill)
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Lieutenant Valeris (Kim Cattrall)
General Chang (Christopher Plummer)
Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner)
Star Trek Generations
Dr. Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell)
Captain John Harriman (Alan Ruck)
Star Trek: First Contact
The Borg Queen (Alice Krige)
Dr. Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell)
- The Alcoholic
- Alternative Character Interpretation / Retcon: The creators of First Contact freely admit they took liberties with the character as he was originally depicted back in TOS' "Metamorphosis," their justification being that we're seeing him at a different point in his life.
- Broken Pedestal
- Bunny Ears Lawyer: Cochrane is one of the brightest minds of his time. He's also a heavy drinker who thinks first contact is best celebrated with whiskey and dancing.
- Cassandra Truth
- Fridge Brilliance: "Metamorphosis" features some '60s Values Dissonance with him hitting on Nancy Hedford in a rather sexist way, but First Contact's portrayal of him as a womanizer makes this in-character. He also originally only mentions his last name, giving his first name when Kirk asks for it in a later scene. Considering how he feels about being a hero in First Contact, he would put off mentioning that he is the great Zefram Cochrane for as long as possible. You could also read his reaction to meeting Spock ("You're a Vulcan, aren't you?", "Correct.") as a deliberately low-key one designed to downplay him being the guy who made first contact with the Vulcans.
- Historical Hero Upgrade: A Deconstructed Trope which occurs In-Universe.
- I Choose to Stay: At the end of "Metamorphosis". Given his negative feelings about being admired in First Contact, Kirk's line that "there's a whole galaxy out there waiting to honor you" is now Hilarious in Hindsight.
- Ladykiller in Love: If you regard the ending of "Metamorphosis" through the filter of his characterization in First Contact, he's a womanizer finally settling down.
- The Other Darrin: Glenn Corbett played him in "Metamorphosis."
- Screw Destiny: Tries to do so after Geordi describes how famous he is in the future. ("You told him about the statue?")
- Who Wants to Live Forever?: In "Metamorphosis," he's discovered as a 237-year-old man trapped on a planet where he's become a de-aged immortal. He says that "immortality consists largely of boredom."
Lily Sloane (Alfre Woodard)
- Action Survivor
- Black Best Friend: To Zefram Cochrane.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: Talking Picard down. Alfre Woodard demonstrates why she's one of her generation's most underrated actresses.
- Sassy Black Woman
- Unfazed Everyman
- You Keep Telling Yourself That: See CMoA above.
Lieutenant Hawk (Neal McDonough)
Star Trek: Insurrection
Anji (Donna Murphy)
- Really Seven Hundred Years Old
- Temporary Love Interest: For Picard.
Ru'afo (F. Murray Abraham)

Shinzon (Tom Hardy)
B-4 (Brent Spiner)
Donatra (Dina Meyer)
Star Trek XI

- Genre Savvy
- It's Personal

Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood)
Ayel (Clifton Collins, Jr.)
Lieutenant George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth)
Captain Richard Robau (Faran Tahir)
- Alliterative Name
- Bald of Awesome
- Benevolent Boss
- Fan Service: Tahir was sewn into his uniform. Just sayin'.
- One of Us: In a rather hilarious contrast to Robau's stern nature, Faran Tahir has been known to openly nerd out in interviews about how cool it is to play a Star Trek captain.
- One-Scene Wonder
- Sacrificial Lamb
