Rumble Roses/Characters
The character sheet for the all-female wrestling game series Rumble Roses.
Baby Face Personas
Reiko Hinomoto
- All Japanese Face
- Bare Your Midriff
- Fan Girl: Reiko is a big fan of Aisha's. Too bad Aisha treats Reiko with disdain when they meet, believing that Dixie must have been "trippin" to be excited over Reiko and that Kamikaze Rose must have been spinning in her grave.
- Jack of All Stats
- Meaningful Name: Her surname literally translates to "Player One" in Japanese.
- Momma's Girl: Frequently asks her dead mother in heaven to watch over her, and fights her matches and advances in her goals for her mother's sake.
- My Hero Zero: Her wrestling moniker is "Zero Fighter".
- Panty Shot: Her hot pants are perpetually unzipped, revealing her panties' waistband.
- To Be a Master: Reiko's goal is to be the greatest wrestler the world has ever seen, to make her mother in heaven proud of her.
Dixie Clements
- All-American Face: Her superstar gimmick
- Bare Your Midriff
- Boobs of Steel
- 3-Count Cowgirl
- Expy / Captain Ersatz: Texan, blonde, big breasted American wrestler who is the most profoundly non Asian female in the cast. Reminds me of a certain Tina Armstrong....
- Mighty Glacier
- Only Sane Man: Acts very much like a Genre Savvy professional wrestler, as opposed to most of the cast who seem to totally buy into the Kayfabe.
Aisha
- Always Someone Better: With Dixie. Unusually for this trope, it's not just because Dixie once defeated Aisha. As Aisha explains before their match in Aisha's storyline, it's also because Aisha was born poor and had to work her way up to wealth, while Dixie has always had money. Also, in Aisha's opinion, Dixie always "acted like the queen of high school."
- Bare Your Midriff
- Dance Battler
- Dark-Skinned Blond
- Fragile Speedster
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Many of her moves were inspired by Britney Spears.
- Unknown Rival: Aisha is one to Dixie; Dixie didn't have a clue "what she ever did to Aisha" until Aisha explained herself just before their match.
Makoto Aihara
- Always Someone Better: With Aigle, but a much more mild example than Aisha with Dixie. Makoto does not hold a grudge against Aigle like Aisha does with Dixie; rather, Makoto thinks Aigle is strong because Aigle beat Makoto before and Makoto wants to get strong enough to beat her. They're rather civil to each other (at least by this trope's standards) even before they become friends.
- Catch Phrase: "Time to psych up! Fight, fight, fight!!!" She says this twice: once at the beginning of her own storyline, and once in Reiko's storyline before Reiko and Makoto's match.
- Genki Girl
- Fragile Speedster
- Idol Singer: her superstar gimmick
- The Power of Friendship: Makoto believes in this. Her theory is that everyone has inner weaknesses they try to hide, but friends can help each other overcome them and become stronger. The power of friendship works in this example; it allows Makoto to break Aigle free of Anesthesia's brainwashing in Makoto's storyline, much to Anesthesia's disgust.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: And she stands out for it, in this game of Kayfabe. Makoto compliments Candy Cane and Reiko after beating them, Reiko has to tell Makoto to lay off the "Miss" stuff, and Makoto thinks all her matches are learning experience for her to grow stronger, whether she wins or loses. This is how she's able to break Aigle's brainwashing later on in her storyline, and Reiko is heavily taken aback in Reiko's storyline when Makoto shows up brainwashed by Anesthesia into being cold-hearted.
Aigle
- Bare Your Midriff
- Braids, Beads, and Buckskins
- Lightning Bruiser (damn near!)
- Third Person Person
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: In Makoto's storyline, Aigle promises not to lose and makes Makoto promise not to lose either so they can have their match later.
- You No Take Candle
Judgment/Yasha (alternate)
- Highly-Visible Ninja
- Fragile Speedster
- Justice Will Prevail
- Leotard of Power
- Ninja Log: One of Judgement's special moves is to get German Suplexed... only to disappear in a cloud of smoke and leave the opponent trying to pin a log. She karate chops them from behind while they're staring at the log in bafflement.
- Vapor Wear
- White-Haired Pretty Girl
Noble Rose/Fujiko Hinomoto (alternate)
Rebecca "Becky" Walsh (alternate)
Miss Muriel Spencer
- Armor-Piercing Slap: All of her punch attacks open with one of these.
- Badass Teacher: She prefers to stress the fact she's a teacher. The fact she can suplex people half retarded is just gravy (as far as she's concerned).
- Christmas Cake
- Hidden Depths: Just scroll down to Mistress Spencer.
- Hot Teacher!
- Improbable Age: According to her profile, she's 28. But it's also said that, prior to being a schoolteacher, she was also a wrestling instructor, which explains how she carries her weight in the tournament, but not really how did she link these careers to one another.
- It's implied in her dialogue she's had more than one teaching position, so she may have been a wrestling teacher for the PE department before becoming a more regular teacher.
- Meganekko
- Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher: She joins the fray when seeking Candy Cane out.
- Mighty Glacier
- Only Sane Man: With the exception of Dixie, she's pretty much the most level headed character in the cast, mainly by virtue of not giving a crap about the Kayfabe the other characters take seriously.
- Zettai Ryouiki
Anesthesia
- Absolute Cleavage
- Big Bad: And a non-spoiler example of this trope, since even in storylines where she first shows up as a friend offering an opportunity such as in Makoto's storyline, Anesthesia's "offer" is heavily loaded with creepy undertones, and whichever girl the player is playing is heavily creeped out by it. In Reiko's storyline, Anesthesia's first introduced as the bitch who brainwashed Reiko's sister.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Considering she's a face, even though she makes no real attempt to hide her bitchiness.
- Deal with the Devil: In most storylines other than hers, Anesthesia offers the girl in question an opportunity to become even stronger. They all refuse for different reasons; Makoto wants to get stronger through training and perseverance, Aisha finds Anesthesia creepy and wonders what her deal is, etc.
- Hello, Nurse!
- Jack of All Stats
- Mad Doctor
- Naughty Nurse Outfit
- Psycho Lesbian: Has some really blatant Les Yay for most of the cast, and a remark she makes about "Miss Walsh" (Candy Cane) has Miss Spencer rather understandably worried for her student's continued state of virtue.
- Sexy Stewardess: Her Superstar gimmick
- Underboobs: In her Superstar outfit.
- Wham! Line: Minor example in Reiko's storyline when Reiko expresses a desire to make her mother "up there" proud of her: "UP...there? Hm? She could be DOWN there for all you know. Right next to your sister." It's sort of true; it turns out Lady X, the final boss, is a cyborg made from Reiko's mother's DNA.
Heel Personas
Rowdy Reiko (a.k.a. Queen Cobra)
- Absolute Cleavage
- Biker Babe
- Broken Bird
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Evil scars, in this case: one over her right eye.
- Jack of All Stats
- Scarf of Asskicking
- She's Got Legs
- Wooden Katanas Are Even Better
Sgt. Clemets
- Dirty Cop / Fair Cop
- Dirty Harriet: Possibly, considering that most heels play up on fetishes, and Dixie here is no exception to this "rule".
- Mighty Glacier
Showbiz/Sista A
- Belly Dancer: Her Superstar gimmick
- Fragile Speedster
- Underboobs
The Black Belt Demon
- Emotionless Girl
- Everything's Worse with Bears: Subverted
- Evil Costume Switch: A black kimono
- Fragile Speedster
Killer Khan/Great Khan
- Dragon Lady: complete with a qipao-styled dress.
- Facial Markings: Wears white makeup and red facepaint
- In Name Only: Killer Khan is the ring name of an actual wrestler. Subverted in that Aigle!Khan's fight style (roughneck, sometimes with weapons) and nationality (Mongolian) are actually similar to the billing of the real life Killer Khan's. Hence, she was renamed Great Khan in RRXX.
- Lightning Bruiser
- Third Person Person
Bloody Shadow/Benikage (default)
- Mask of Power: With an oni mouth etched on it, no less.
- Ninja
- Ninja Log: When she initiates a reversal.
- Precision F-Strike: "You bitch, die"!
- Vapor Wear
Evil Rose/Fujiko Hinomoto (default)
- Big Damn Heroes: In Reiko's storyline, at one point Anesthesia sneak-attacks Reiko after the player wins a match against Anesthesia, but Evil Rose shows up to bail Reiko out before Anesthesia can do too much damage.
- Brainwashed and Crazy
- Hero Antagonist: In Reiko's story arc, she's actually not all that much of a heel, even trying to help her despite being on opposite sides.
- The Dragon: To Anesthesia, both literally {in her Superstar appearance} and metaphorically.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: What Reiko utters to her before a match.
- Leotard of Power
- Luke, I Am Your Father: She's Reiko's sister.
- Scaled Up: Her Superstar gimmick is a Dragon form!
- You Gotta Have Light Purple Hair
Candy Cane/Rebecca Walsh (default)
- Bare Your Midriff
- Catholic School Girls Rule
- Delinquent
- Dye Hard: Pretty possible, considering that this is her true persona.
- Girlish Pigtails: Red
- Instrument of Murder: Can attack using her guitar.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's fighting to raise money to save the orphanage in which she grew up. And still she's billed as a heel. Pretty much because of her confrontational nature.
- Also because, out of pride, Candy Cane usually refrains from actually telling people that her goal is to save an orphanage. She tells Miss Spencer after the former beats the latter in the former's storyline, but in other cases, such as when Makoto Aihara asks Candy Cane why she fights, Candy Cane rudely responds that she's only in it "for the money baby!"
- Riot Grrrl
Mistress Spencer
- Dominatrix
- Eyepatch of Power
- Fairytale Wedding Dress: Her superstar gimmick.
- Mistress and Servant Boy: With Sebastian The Clown
- Thong of Shielding
- Whip It Good: Complete with BDSM theme.
Dr. Cutter/Dr. Anesthesia
- Big Bad
- Dr. Bitch
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: One over her left eye.
- Green-Skinned Space Babe: Her Superstar gimmick
- Mad Doctor
Lady X Substance/Lady X Subsistence
- All Your Powers Combined
- Cybernetics Eat Your Soul
- Luke, I Am Your Father: She's actually Kamikaze Rose, Reiko and Fujiko's Missing Mom. And it's when looking for her that Fujiko gets turned into Evil Rose.
- One-Winged Angel: in the first game.
- Ridiculously Human Robot
- Shout-Out: The Substance/Subsistence is reference to the Metal Gear Solid series.
- That One Attack: Albeit a very mild example. Lady X has an attack where she repeatedly spins her top half in a spinning punch attack, traveling around the ring. She can't be hit or grabbed in the middle of this attack, and if you get hit by it you'll be knocked up into the air by a mile and take a lot of damage. It also travels around the entire ring, so in order to escape it you need to briefly duck out of the ring or time where you move to dodge it. Luckily it's a super move so Lady X needs at least one bar to do it.
