Princess Resurrection/Characters
Characters of the manga and anime / OVA series Princess Resurrection.
Hime and her allies
Hime
Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (anime), Saori Hayami (OVA)(JP), Shelley Calene-Black (EN)
The titular character of the series. She is the second royal princess, daughter of the king of all monsters. She appears as a young aristocratic woman wearing Gothic clothing. Her real name is Lillian but she dislikes people calling her by it. Although her siblings are busy fighting for the throne, she shows no interest in it. She resurrects Hiro on a whim after he dies, thinking him interesting enough to be her servant.
- Action Girl
- Badass
- Badass Normal Despite the ability to create blood warriors and being a phoenix, she's no stronger than a regular human.
- Badass Princess
- Chainsaw Good: It's become her iconic weapon.
- Do Not Call Me Paul: Lilliane
- Elegant Classical Musician: She's a skilled pianist and a songwriter.
- Elegant Gothic Lolita
- Femme Fatalons
- Hair of Gold
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She sometimes acts like a jerk to her friends, but really does care for them.
- The Kirk: Of the Princesses. She rarely seems stressed about anything but people note that some of her actions are quite strange and rash.
- Kuudere
- Lady of War
- Mama Bear: To her friends and servants, as quiet as she keeps it.
- My Greatest Failure: Her previous Blood Knights all died to save her.
- Nightmare Fuel: Hime can be more than capable of handing this out. For example, in episode 22 of the anime she and her band capture and imprison three nigh-invulnerable werewolf Blood Knights sent to assassinate her. In order to to remove them as a threat, she she goes into the room where they are being held captive and shoots them with silver bullets again and again until they are no longer able to regenerate. Worst of all, she tells them right off that this is what she is planning to do, and proceeds to commence firing. For most of the night. Wow.
- The Ojou
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: As she's a Royal.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: Played with. Hime has NO interest in the throne. But when she gets attacked, Hime is just as likely to fight back as Hiro is to protect her. Also, she will protect and assist her "subjects" and the local town.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: To Severin. It works.
- Unexpected Successor/Offered the Crown: Emile at least thinks she should become the next ruler.
- White Sheep: The only royal who has no interest in becoming King.
Hiro Hiyorimi
Voiced by: Fuyuka Ooura (anime), Miyu Irino (OVA)(JP), Blake Shepard (EN)
The protagonist who dies at the beginning of the series (in the manga he was hit by the station wagon Flandre is driving, whereas in the anime he is hit by a falling iron pillar). He finds himself in Hime's service as he is bound to her because her blood revived him. Though young and not very strong, Hiro manages to assist Hime (mostly by being a human shield) through his "half-immortality" that was given to him after his resurrection.
- Alliterative Name
- An Axe to Grind: His typical Weapon of Choice.
- Battle Butler
- Bishonen: Depending goes from current Cute Shotaro Boy -> this trope in the future.
- Bodyguard Crush: Possibly. Either that or its just the whole Blood Warrior thing making him a tad clingy.
- Butt Monkey: At the beginning of the series, at least.
- Color Failure: An interesting version (at least in the manga). All the colour is "drained" out of him whenever Hime is in danger.
- This is due to him being a blood warrior. His hair and skin actually becomes albino pale and obtains Glowing Eyes of Doom in active blood warrior mode.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: With Fuyuka in the anime.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Can be plenty badass when the time calls for it.
- Flat Character: There isn't much character development to him outside of learning the ways of the monster world. Half the time he's just following Hime around or happens to be in an area of monster activity.
- Future Badass: You better believe it. If the bad future is anything to show.
- Hellish Pupils: Whenever Hime is in danger.
- Immortal Life Is Cheap: He dies at least once a chapter.
- Psychic Link: Between him and Hime.
- The Watson
- UST: Not sure how to look at this with Hime, but a possible interpretation.
Riza Wildman
Voiced by: Yuko Kaida (anime), Eri Kitamura (OVA)(JP), Luci Christian (EN)
A half-breed tomboy girl who has a werewolf father, called Volg Wildman, and a human mother. Being of mixed blood, Riza can only transform her arms up to her elbow and her physical combat capabilities can't compare to that of a pure breed, though she is many times stronger than a normal human.
- Action Girl
- Badass
- Badass Adorable: She may be cute, but she rips monsters apart like they're nothing.
- Badass Biker: Occasionally.
- Bare Your Midriff
- It seems to be the werewolves' hat.
- Bash Brothers: Frequently teams up with Hiro.
- Blood Knight
- Boobs of Steel: In the OVAs.
- Catch Phrase:
- Cute Little Fangs
- Foe Yay: Quite a bit with Reiri.
- Les Yay
- Gamer Chick: Plays with Hiro sometimes. Ironically, she Doesn't Know Mortal Kombat (Hiro says she never bothered to read the instructions). She even lampshades the irony that Hiro is good at the game but, at this point in time, is useless in real life.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Half-human, half-werewolf.
- Idiot Hero: Not actually stupid but she occasionally does things on impulse that, had she actually stopped to think about them, she'd never do.
- Idiot Ball: Literally holds it in Princess Seabed. She gets smacked with it again invading Duken's castle.
- Lampshaded by Riza herself in the second OVA when preparing to ram the train. She remarks that if she thought about it, it would be a bad idea, but that thinking about it wasn't her thing.
- Proud Warrior Race Guy
- Spell My Name with an "S": Riza vs. Liza vs. Lisa etc.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: With Reiri.
- Tsundere: Hiro often gets the brunt of her "dere" side. And Reiri the "tsun".
Reiri Kamura
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (anime), Aki Toyosaki (OVA)(JP), Emily Neves (EN)
A female vampire who attends the same school as Hiro. She has long black hair, always dresses in a dark sailor fuku, and has idol status in her school. At first, she greatly detests Riza but their relations change gradually for the better. Other than the blood from Royalty, she also prefers blood from virgins, girls and "cute" guys.
- Action Girl: When she feels like it.
- Animorphism: As a vampire she has the "swarm of bats" variant.
- Bi the Way: Seems so, with her preference for the blood of "girls and cute guys". See Lesbian Vampire below.
- She even comments Hiro when he has to dress as a girl.
- Combat Pragmatist/Lovable Coward: She's braver and a bit more loyal than most vampires, but she is not above fleeing a fight if it's going badly for her.
- Cute Little Fang: Comes with the territory.
- Even the Girls Want Her: Of course.
- Expy: With Princess Resurrection only pre-dating Hell Girl by a few months, it's probably just a coincidence, but doesn't a certain other black'n'red-Joshikousei-wearing, supernatural, pretty girl with a Hime Cut and red eyes rather resemble Reiri?
- Fetish Fuel Station Attendant: The future version of Reiri is hotness incarnate, and amazingly goes the entire time she's shown without a Panty Shot at all.
- Foot Focus
- Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: And she's really friendly too, especially with Hiro.
- Hime Cut: Ironically.
- Hypnotic Eyes / Red Eyes, Take Warning: And hell are they creepy.
- Joshikousei
- Lesbian Vampire: Hasn't been actually stated, but there's enough evidence...
- Magic Skirt: Horribly (or wonderfully, YMMV) averted. See Panty Shot below.
- Minored in Asskicking: Fighting isn't one of Reiri's hobbies. Not that she can't deliver a beatdown anyway.
- Ms. Fanservice
- Our Vampires Are Different
- Panty Shot: Reiri flies around a lot, and we are treated to a plethora of shots from beneath her.
- Hell, we even get flashes from a normal angle. Must be windy in Sasanaki.
- The Starscream: Subverted; she's rather loyal, even though she'll tell you she isn't. To the point of taking The Slow Path into a Bad Future and getting killed in order to give Hime a message to send back in time. This surprises a lot of Royals, as vampires do not make for loyal servants.
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- Ship Tease: TONS with Riza.
- Vampire Detective Series: She is either one or likes pretending to be one. Her specialty is investigation and does solve the mystery she is assigned to.
Nakua
Voiced by: Hiromi Konno (OVA)
An "evil" spider deity initially responsible for the disappearance of students at Hiro and Reiri's school, she is eventually stopped by Reiri and Riza. After failing to get back at the pair (and by extension Hime, for being their patron), she settles into a sort-of cooperative relationship with the residents of Hime's mansion after the latter builds a shrine to her in the mansion's backyard. Is pretty much the de-facto guardian deity of Sasanaki at the moment.
- A God Am I
- Defeat Equals Friendship: She tries to trap Hime and her entourage in prehistoric times in response to Riza and Reiri impeding on her human offerings. This fails. Later on, when her temple is destroyed, Hime allows her to set up on her new temple in Hime's backyard. She has two spider servants, Jiroumaru and Taroumaru.
- Giant Spider
- Gods Need Prayer Badly: And she's a bit pissed she hasn't been getting any lately.
- Heel Face Turn: Tried to kill the heroes twice now, but now she's on their side.
- Humanoid Abomination: Usually looks like a young girl with long black hair.
- I'm a Humanitarian: She clashes with Hime, Reiri and Riza on this. Not that it makes her a bad person. She was just taking 'offerings' as she has to eat. Now, she accepts offerings from a little shrine...though she complains about how Sawawa makes them.
- Little Miss Badass
- Little Miss Snarker
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Spider limbs sprout out of her head when she decides to fight.
- Our Gods Are Greater
- People Puppets
- Pet the Dog: Occasionally.
- Spider People: Well, a god but still counts.
- Villains Out Shopping: Well, "Noble Demon Gods Out Shopping." In her spare time, she supervises the building of a bridge between worlds. Why? 'Cause.
Sherwood
Voiced by: Ai Shimizu (JP), Hillary Haag (EN)
Hime's younger sister. She once harbored bad feelings towards Hime, but later reconciled, and has a rather obvious crush on Hiro and will almost do anything to make him her servant. After that she moved in to a mansion on the hill opposite Hime's mansion.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: At first...in series. YMMV on whether or not her Heel Face Turn made her less "annoying".
- Badass Princess
- Big Brother Worship: Of Hime, after her Heel Face Turn.
- Cute Little Fang
- Disney Death: In chapter 77 due to exposing her body to the spore cloud and adapting to it, fresh air become lethal to her and she nearly dies if not for Hime saving her with her newfound phoenix power.
- Foot Focus: Even moreso than Reiri.
- Green Thumb: She controls triffids.
- Hair of Gold
- Heel Face Turn: In a way. She's no longer out to kill Hime, but she doesn't exactly "help" her either.
- Lady of Adventure: Usually when we see Sherwood in-story, she, Francesca and Ryu-Ryu are off on a field investigation/expedition.
- Little Miss Badass
- The McCoy: Of the Princesses. Understandable since she's the youngest Royal and it's shown that when she was around that age, Hime wasn't too much different.
- Princess Curls: Her ponytail.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning
- Tomboy Princess: She really likes her field investigations.
Flandre
Voiced by: Shiho Kawaragi (anime), Yuka Iguchi (OVA)(JP), Bree Welch (EN)
Hime's personal android. She is small, unlike the other androids, but is extremely strong for her size.
- Accidental Heroine: Flandre's anime-only rampage across Sasanaki city unintentionally ends up helping people.
- Badass Adorable
- Drives Like Crazy: Inverted. She's actually a competent driver. Some of the situations in which she has to drive, however...
- Glacier Waif
- In-Series Nickname: Sherwood refers to her as "The Shrimp Maid"/"Shrimpette".
- Meido
- Name's the Same: To a certain superpowered little sister in the Video Game/Touhou franchise.
- Ridiculously Human Robot
- Robot Girl: Just like her "siblings".
- Robot Maid: Duh.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Frandre? Flandore?
- Super-Powered Robot Meter Maids
- Theme Naming: With the rest of her "sibling."
- Verbal Tic / Pokémon-Speak: Hooba / huga / fuga.
Sawawa Hiyorimi
Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi (anime), Ai Kayano (OVA)(JP), Monica Rial (EN)
Hiro's older sister and Hime's (human) maid. Hiro moves in with her at the beginning of the series, which triggers his meeting with Hime.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- The Empath: In the anime she often senses when Hiro is in danger. And then dismisses it as nothing.
- Gag Boobs: Surprisingly subverted. As well-endowed as she is, there are rarely any references to it. However, she's still an example of...
- Gainaxing
- Meido
- Unfazed Everyman: Not that she's aware of it.
- Weirdness Censor: Seriously. Does she ever notice any of the super natural happenings around Hime's house?
- The one time she does notice anything weird at all is when Hime gets cloned... which Sawawa passes off as her being tired. Oh well, at least she doesn't get underfoot in the action.
Francesca
Voiced by: Rika Morinaga (JP), Stephanie Wittels (EN)
Sherwood's personal gynoid and caretaker. She has the appearance of a young, glasses-wearing woman.
- Action Girl
- Meganekko
- Meido
- Ninja Maid
- Ridiculously Human Robot
- Robot Girl
- Robot Maid
- The Stoic
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- Theme Naming
- Unusual Ammo: She can flick pellets or rocks at the same speed of a gunshot.
- Verbal Tic/Pokémon-Speak: Again, another android that says only "Fuga"/"Hooba." She is smarter than Flandre though.
Ryu-Ryu
Voiced by: Akio Kato (JP), Leraldo Anzaldua (EN)
Sherwood's blood warrior. He's a Panda. Yup.
- Bash Brothers: With his fellow pandas that Sherwood bought from the zoo. Just go with it.
- Battle Butler
- Berserker: Very much so. One time he killed a giant snake by landing on it. Only to break his neck from the landing. Even Riza, who isn't known for her tactical prowess, called him wreckless.
- Color Failure: As with all Blood warriors. His black fur even turns white, making some people mistake him for a polar bear at times.
- Hellish Pupils
- Immortal Life Is Cheap
- Mighty Glacier
- Pandaing to the Audience
- Reality Ensues: Sherwood doesn't even try to hide Ryu, and nobody calls her out on the fact that owning a panda as a pet is illegal. Until chapter 35, where she's arrested for violating the Washington Convention.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Eucalyptus.
Nozomi "Buchi" Kobuchizawa
Voiced by: Hiroshi Okamoto (OVA)
Hiro's friend from school. Obsessed with the occult. Seems to have a crush on Francesca.
- Butt Monkey: Amusing things happen to Buchi.
- Genre Savvy
- Large Ham: Especially when he's playing Mr. Exposition in his videos.
- Unfazed Everyman
- Unlucky Everydude
- Weirdness Censor: Notably the only recurring human who DOESN'T have one.
- Wrong Genre Savvy: Smart enough to notice something weird's going on, not smart enough to know why.
Prince Severin and his entourage
Severin
Voiced By: Kenyuu Horuichi (anime)
One of Hime's siblings, a self-important coward who will use any means to remain the last one standing. It is hinted that he was the one who ordered the attack that decimated Hime's forces prior to the story via unleashing a Zombie Apocalypse on her holdings, and he tries to do so again.
- Bad Boss: His blood warrior, Mikasa, is a woman he killed himself.
- Bishonen
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- Complete Monster
- Dirty Coward: Hime has no qualms about calling him as such, pointing out that even little Sherwood was ready to risk her life, while he hid behind his little tricks as to not get in the line of fire.
- The Evil Prince
- Hot Guys Are Bastards
- Jerkass
- The Kirk: Compared to Gilliam and Emile. Not a nice Kirk, however.
- Master And Servant Girl: He and Mikasa seem to have this dynamic, mixed with Bad Boss. The way he gives her blood is rather... suspect.
- Out-Gambitted: He really underestimated Hime...
- Smug Snake: Lampshaded by Hime herself.
Hime: You've always been a weak-minded coward.
- Villainous Breakdown: When he sees that his underhanded tricks don't work on Hime, he gets angry. Just as Hime planned, as his rage causes him to drop his guard and get killed.
Franz
Severin's android bodyguard, he looks like a tall man dressed in a tuxedo with a cybernetic left eye.
- Ridiculously Human Robot
- Robot Butler
- Pokémon-Speak/Verbal Tic: "Fuga"/"Hooba."
- The Stoic
- Theme Naming
Mikasa
Voiced By: Sayaka Ohara (anime)
Severin's blood warrior, Mikasa is a woman that Severin killed then revived via his blood. Mikasa is much more deadlier than your usual Blood Warrior, by virtue of the "modifications" done on her by the Fly Man. At Severin's death, she becomes Silvia's Blood Warrior instead.
- Big Sister Instinct: She takes up with Severin and later Silvia, for the sake of her Ill Girl little sister.
- Combat Tentacles: After being modified.
- Dark Action Girl
- Mix-and-Match Critters: Severin had her body modified while she was his blood warrior. Fly Man is also doing some experiments on her.
Fly Man
An anthromorphic fly scientist. He is first introduced trying to "sell" the fruits of his research to Hime (meaning he took her hostage to force her to buy them from him, or die if she refused). He works for Severin at first, but Silvia eventually becomes his financial patroness, and as such he makes things on her request, whenever he isn't pursuing his own independent research that is.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies
- Captain Ersatz / Shout-Out: He essentially a mix of the classic and the Jeff Goldblum-played character of The Fly.
- For Science!
- Mad Scientist
- Mix-and-Match Critters: All of his creatures seem to be some form of insects, among other things.
Prince Emile and his entourage
Emile
Voiced by: Yuuya Uchida (anime), Akira Ishida (OVA)
Quiet and brooding, Emile is one of Hime's older brothers. Seemingly plagued with a weak consitution, his powerful Psychic Powers, including telekenesis and limited clairvoyance, more than makes up for this. Like Sherwood he is not openly antagonistic with Hime, but will not aid her either (directly anyway).
- Back From the Dead: As a blood warrior. Thanks, Silvia.
- Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: Or something... What the hell, Emile?
- Birds of a Feather: He and Hime seem to get along well. He's arguably her Spear Counterpart.
- Big Brother Instinct: He sincerely cares about Hime and Sherwood.
- Bishonen
- The Chessmaster: To a degree. Being able to see the future helps.
- Empty Shell: His blood warrior corpse.
- Hair of Gold: Like Hime, he is much nicer than most of his siblings.
- Humongous Mecha: Flanders.
- Ill Boy
- Man of Wealth and Taste
- Pet the Dog: Aloof, stoic, not above putting his life on the line to save his subordinates or innocent bystanders. Also a Kuudere.
- Playing with Fire: He seems to have turned his soul into an Energy Being Wreathed in Flames.
- Psychic Powers: Seems to have telekinesis. He uses it to deflect a Wave Motion Gun from hitting a Afterlife Express. Using it really takes a toll on him. He can also see into the future for a limited amount of time.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: He's been made into a blood warrior.
- The Spock: Of the three Princes.
- Squishy Wizard
- The Stoic
- Time Travel: What?
- White Sheep
- The Wise Prince
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: He eventually attacks Keziah and Sledge with his powers. Considering he was Silvia's blood warrior by then, it may not count.
Keziah Bold
Voiced by: Hiroki Touchi (anime), Yuuichi Nakamura (OVA)
A werewolf warrior first encountered stranded in the Ghost Ship, Keziah is one of Prince Emile's loyal servants. He was a companion of Riza's father in the old days, and as such, despite being technically Riza's enemy, tends to look out for her whenever they cross paths.
- Badass
- Blood Knight
- Chekhov's Gunman: We meet Keziah as another stranded traveler on the Ghost Ship.
- Fantastic Racism: Against vampires but no one's shocked.
- Friendly Enemy: Keziah and Riza get on very well.
- Hot-Blooded
- Killed Off for Real
- Subverted as he shows up in Chapter 77 and 78. Turns out Emile saved him by turning him into a fire warrior, giving him with some phoenix powers.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Our Werewolves Are Different: Also, a Voluntary Shapeshifter.
- Scars Are Forever: Keziah has claw marks on his forehead.
- Shirtless Scene: After he transforms.
- Smoking Is Cool
- Undying Loyalty
Sledge
Voiced By: Satoshi Hino (OVA)
A winged warrior of an unspecified humanoid race, Sledge is another of Prince Emile's bodyguards, serving opposite to Keziah. Despite being in the same faction, they tend to bicker with each other when left alone.
- Badass
- Blood Knight: No surprise from Keziah, though Sledge is also like this.
- Bodyguard Betrayal: Sledge is the one that kills the already-dying Emile so that Silvia can claim Madeline.
- Goggles Do Nothing
- Karmic Death: Sledge is killed by the Blood Warrior-turned Emile, shortly after he had betrayed the latter to Silvia.
- Satellite Character/That One Guy: Sledge has very little characterization outside of his loyalty to Emile, being able to fly and arguing with Keziah.
- Winged Humanoid: Sledge.
Flanders
Flanders is the robot bodyguard assigned to serve Emile. Unlike his "siblings" Flandre and Francesca, Flanders is a Humongous Mecha on the scale of kaiju-sized monsters. He is later upgraded to Flanders G.
- Foreshadowing: The fact that Flander's head-mounted photon cannons are used by Gilliam is a big clue that Emile has already died
- Humongous Mecha
- Pokémon-Speak/Verbal Tic: "Fuga"/"Hooba."
- Theme Naming
- Wave Motion Gun: His eyes also double as twin Photo Cannons.
- We Can Rebuild Him: Flanders is actually destroyed twice, but rebuilt without issue (relatively anyway) afterward.
Ningyo/Madeline
Voiced by: Ai Kayano (OVA)
A mermaid that was trapped on a ghost ship, and was used by the malevolent entity there to lure in other ships to their doom. In return for gaining the ability to walk on land, she had willingly given up her voice, but in the process she was cursed that she would die if she ever spoke. She is eventually rescued from the ghost ship by Hime's friends and Keziah, but not before she speaks up to warn the latter. This causes her death, but she is quickly revived via Emile's blood, becoming one of his Blood Warriors.
- Adaptation Dye Job: Despite her hair being a dark color in the manga, it becomes pink in the first anime. The OVA rectifies this somewhat, turning her hair back into a very dark blue.
- Color Failure: Much like Hiro, she suffers this at times.
- Hellish Pupils: Again, much like Hiro.
- Last of Their Kind: Mermaids are mentioned by Riza as being "almost extinct".
- Only Known by Their Nickname: She is referred to through the manga and the OVA simply as "ningyo", which literaly means mermaid. It is only later in the manga that we learn that her real name is Madeline.
- Our Mermaids Are Different: Similar the Little Mermaid variety: as mentioned, she gave up her voice as a payment to a sorcerer to be able to walk. The moment she speaks a word however, she dies.
- Token Mini-Moe: Of Emile's entourage.
Princess Silvia and her entourage
Silvia
Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (OVA)
The eldest princess, Silvia is beautiful, elegant, and charismatic. She is also incredibly cunning and willing to do anything to come out on top of the current succession war, without directly showing her hand of course. With this in mind, she is likely the most dangerous of Hime's siblings prior to the emergence of Prince Fuhito, that is.
- Big Bad
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
- Blondes Are Evil
- Chekhov's Gunman: The first time we see her, she is being held hostage by Duke Kiniski.
- The Chessmaster
- Cool Big Sis: Seems this, at first.
- Dark Action Girl: When she actually bothers, she's every bit as capable of fighting as Hime is.
- Evil Counterpart: To Hime.
- Fantastic Racism: Seems to dislike Keziah for some reason.
- Gag Boobs: Ridiculously so. Riza in the OVA idly wonders who's larger: Silvia or Sawawa.
- Lady of War
- Light Is Not Good
- Manipulative Bitch: Even Sherwood calls her out on this.
- Onee-Sama: Always referred to as "Silvia-onee-sama."
- Pet the Dog: Hime's earlier memories of her.
- Spell My Name with an "S": "Silvia" or "Sylvia?" The official English translations go with "Silvia."
- The Spock: An evil Spock.
- Woman in White
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Has absolutely no problems getting rid of useless subordinates.
Francette
Voiced By: Yuka Iguchi (OVA)
Silvia's gynoid bodyguard. One of her distinct features is the large pneumatic drill standing in as a replacement for her lost left hand. She is not hesitant in using it against Silvia's enemies.
Prince Gilliam and his entourage
Gilliam
Voiced by: Joji Nakata (OVA)
Another of Hime's older brothers, Gilliam appears as an intense-looking man in a white suit, and is always seen with his sword close at hand. Unlike his brother Emile, Gilliam is much more brash, and isn't shy to prove how good at using his sword he really is.
- Badass: His fight with Hime, Reiri and Hiro in the 2nd OVA.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Implied, mostly through his rather unusual blood warriors.
- Collector of the Strange: His blood warriors include:
- Cool Sword: His Weapon of Choice is his sword blood warrior.
- Flash Step: He is very fast.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: On the giving and recieveing end. He blasts Hime's mansion with a particle cannon for fighting him earlier, using the very weapon she used then on him. He then is about to blast Sherwood's mansion, proclaiming "karma's a bitch", only to be blasted, but not killed, by Hime with the same cannon.
- By chapter 78 and 77, he gets desperate and willingly exposes himself to an alien spore cloud in hopes of fighting and defeating Fuhito. This winds up backfiring as prolonged exposure means he can't survive in fresh air. The spore uses him to explain to the others that they meant no harm and were just trying to find a new home before heading out into space. Clearing away the mist and killing Gilliam in the process. He is graceful about it though and, like Emil, wishes for Hime to be the next ruler as she gave him a royal death.
- Large Ham
- The McCoy: So far, the most openly emotional of the princes and princesses.
- Noble Demon: He uses some underhanded tricks but he does care for Fratellus and even respected that it was willing to sacrifice itself to help him.
- Serious Business: The Succession Crisis. He's right, though.
- Warrior Prince: He's pretty skilled with that Cool Sword.
Fratellus
Voiced by: Yuka Iguchi (OVA)
Gilliam's android, Fratellus appears as a tall and absurdly-muscular man wearing strange three-lensed goggles.
- Badass in a Nice Suit
- Battle Butler
- Cool Shades: Or whatever those goggles are on his face.
- Dark-Skinned Blond
- Heroic Sacrifice: To destroy Flanders for Gilliam's sake. Being an android, he gets better.
- Pokémon-Speak/Verbal Tic: "Fuga"/"Hooba."
- Ridiculously Human Robot
- Theme Naming
Prince Duken and his entourage
Prince Duken/Franken
The oldest royal sibling alive, Duken was supposedly the winner of the previous generation's succession war by default, as his only other remaining rival had gone into hiding. However instead of being elevated to maturity, he was instead passed over by the other Elder royalty, which indirectly leads to the current succession war. In reality Duken had been killed decades before by his brother Prince Fuhito, and the "Duken" seen by the other siblings is simply another android.
- Badass Cape
- Battle Butler: To Prince Fuhito.
- Body Double
- Captain Ersatz: Of Casshern.
- Fusion Dance: With Frank to turn into Franken, Prince Fuhito's bodyguard.
- Killed Off for Real: Years before the start of the story, apparently.
- Man in White
- Mask of Power
- Ridiculously Human Robot:What Duken is eventually revealed to be.
- Shock and Awe
- Verbal Tic:Once revealed as an android "Duken" starts speaking in the same way as all the other mechanical bodyguards.
Frank
Prince Duken's robotic canine companion, who accompanies the eldest royal wherever he goes.
- Captain Ersatz: Of Friender from Casshern.
- Fusion Dance:His head fuses with "Duken" to turn into Fuhito's bodyguard Franken.
- Robot Dog
Other Characters
Dr. Franken
The creator of the humanoid bodyguards that serve the royal siblings, Dr. Franken considers himself a neutral observer to the succession war. As such his mansion is considered a demilitarized zone where the royal siblings can talk with each other without fear of attack or betrayal.
- Badass: Chapter 70 shows that, prior to his current state, he can actually defend himself quite well.
- Badass Longcoat: Used to be the owner of one.
- Brain In a Jar: His state in the present generation.
- Large Ham
- Mad Scientist
- Oh Crap
Prince Fuhito
Another royal prince, Fuhito's unexpected entry into the succession war has shifted the power balance between all his other siblings. Although looking for all the world like a young boy, Fuhito is an extremely powerful esper... and he isn't hesitant in using that power. Fuhito was actually a participant of the previous generation's succession war, though he had to go into hiding due to the toll the battles took on his body. It was he who killed Duken, and had him turned into a robotic body-double, which in turn indirectly causes the current generation's succession war.
- Bigger Bad
- Captain Ersatz / Shout-Out: As a baby, a very obvious one to Ivan Whisky/Cyborg 001 from Cyborg 009, down to the pacifier.
- Cute Shotaro Boy: His current appearance, post-revival.
- Ill Baby: Much like Ivan, using his psychic powers prior to his revival caused him to fall asleep afterward.
- Horned Humanoid: The way his hair is styled makes it seem like he has two horns sprouting from the top of his head.
- Immortality
- Psychic Powers:An extremely powerful esper even as a baby.
- Smug Snake / Smug Super: He really thinks himself unbeatable.
