Solid Snake (Ac!d portrayal)
An Alternate Universe counterpart of Solid Snake who brought down Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land as usual, but permanently retired to Alaska afterward and is only called back to infiltrate Lobito Physics and Chemistry Lab after a 17-year absence. Conjecture on Metal Gear Wiki indicates that having not participated in the events of the Solid games (if their events existed beyond the Ac!d continuity's card packs), this iteration of Snake is more trusting of his allies and less concerned about unnecessary violence.
- Most every trope that applies to the original Solid Snake
- Well, this version of Snake is a bit more of a Jerkass than the Solid version, but to be fair, he was really enjoying his retirement, and was pulled out somewhat more reluctantly than his Solid counterpart.
- Plus, he might actually not be a clone, as he doesn't have the aging problem that the canonical Solid Snake was heavily implied to have possessed since Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
- Noodle Incident: Weirdly invoked regarding his fate. The ending of Ac!d shows him completely escaping from Lobito's lab, yet Ac!d 2 revealed that he died during the incident, thus resulting in the creation of Snake2.
Teliko Friedman
Voiced By (in Portable Ops): Yuko Nagashima (JP), Kari Wahlgren (EN)
Leader of a special forces squad sent to infiltrate Lobito Island in the opening events of Metal Gear Ac!d, seeking the data for a new Metal Gear (codenamed Pythagoras) and its creator William Fleming to thwart an airplane hijacking conducted by the Creepy Twin marionettes Elsie and Francis. However, her team is killed save for herself and Snake is sent in to rendezvous with her and complete the mission. Depending on how far you are in Ac!d, Teliko may or may not actually be La Clown, a renowned disguise artist of completely unknown true identity and/or gender looking to convince Snake that he was really Fleming's right hand man Hans Davis the whole time.
- Action Girl
- But Not Too Foreign: Should be fairly obvious from her first name that she's part Japanese, but then her backstory pushes it by revealing that "Teliko" is the result of a database error in entering "Teruko".
- Giant Poofy Sleeves
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: La Clown's across-the-face Swallowtail Butterfly burn.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl
Roger McCoy
Snake's CO for the events of Metal Gear Ac!d, who served alongside Roy Campbell in the Green Berets and shares the rank of Colonel. Troubled by his decisions in Vietnam, he struggles to maintain his faith in Snake as his personality conflicts more and more with that of BEAGLE bigshot Hans Davis.
Leone
Commander of a private army that storms Lobito Island at the same time that Teliko's team is sent in, also seeking Pythagoras and Fleming. Wields a PTRS-1941 anti-tank rifle single-handed thanks to his immense size. After a crazy boss fight and Snake's rendezvous with the real Teliko, Leone collaborates with Snake to get ahold of Fleming, but is captured and doped up with ACUA for the rematch. Leone is also formerly known as Jeff Jones, a member of Roger's unit in Vietnam who was falsely accused of spying for Charlie.
- Badass
- Handicapped Badass: Is missing an arm.
- BFG
- Firing One-Handed
Alice Hazel
A young but renowned psychic detective working alongside Roger as Snake's Mission Control in Ac!d. While easily offended by Snake's skepticism, her abilities prove useful in finding escape routes and weapons at critical moments. At the same time, she attempts to walk a passenger of the hijacked airliner, Minette, through defusing the bomb in its cargo hold. Due to the Mind Screw nature of Ac!d's end-game reveals, Alice is actually a product of William Fleming and Hans Davis's experiments with Child Soldiers and may be either No. 16 (the survivor of the children's final, Battle Royale-esque ritual), No. 104 (No. 16's final victim, who turned into a cloud of white dust and assimilated No. 16), or some combination of the two. Either way, she's been doing just enough to support the theory that Snake may actually be Hans Davis (though he really isn't) to make him personally loyal to her via the CHAIN system (the in-game justification for the trading-card-based movement and combat system).
Gary Murray
A researcher on William Flemming's team on Lobito Island, he managed to escape the transfer of the rest of Flemming's unit to the FAR portion of the compound, but wound up cornered in a security office during the invasion by Leone's unit. After being rescued by Snake, he collaborates with the good guys via CODEC to help retrieve the Pythagoras data. Is actually William Flemming himself, looking to use Snake's delusions of the Hans Davis personality to recover the Pythagoras data, use it to activate Metal Gear KODOQUE, and get revenge on BEAGLE for using his daughter Constance (brainwashed into thinking of herself as Minette...or so BEAGLE's agents thought) as a motivational hostage.
- The Chessmaster
- Papa Wolf The main motivation behind his actions, as BEAGLE kidnapped and brainwashed his daughter.
- Expy Gary Murray/William Flemming bore a resemblance to Wind/Eric Lecarde's characterization in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Not only does he wear similar attire to Wind, some of his personality traits were also similar, such as his using an alias for a good part of the game as well as having the motivation of revenge for his daughter being kidnapped and brainwashed by the Big Bad (or in Flemming's case, the Bigger Bad). Unlike Wind, however, he's a bad guy.
BEAGLE
The corporate conglomerate formerly in control of Lobito Physics and Chemistry Lab, infamous for its efforts to simultaneously perpetuate conflicts in third-world countries and deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the pocket wars. Its name is supposed to be a Meaningful Acronym of the first names of its six proprietors, but the only one relevant to the plot of Metal Gear Ac!d is the second E, Emilio - a suspected alias for Hans Davis, right-hand man of William Fleming. Among their most prominent products are Super Soldiers (child or otherwise), Metal Gear KODOQUE, and NEKAL Silk Powder, a weight-control supplement which Alice/No. 16 and/or 104 has been using to spread the thought-suppressing drug ACUA into the general public.
- Chekhov's Gun: NEKAL Silk Powder
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Hans, perhaps also the rest of them.
Snake (Ac!d 2 portrayal)
An amnesiac found in the Serena Republic three years ago by a band of mercenaries, with no recollection of his past save answering to the name of the legendary soldier. After embezzling 15 million dollars from Serena's General Escobar and being framed for the death of Secretary of State Perez, Snake and his newfound friends try to smuggle themselves into America, but are arrested by Dalton. Dalton arranges a plea bargain with Snake: assist him in recovering incriminating data from the military company SaintLogic, and he and the gang can avoid being extradited back to Serena's judicial system. Snake's mission, of course, gets much more complicated than that as SaintLogic's new Metal Gear and its creator go rogue. This particular Snake is actually a SaintLogic-made clone of the real deal, using bits of Solid's genetic material recovered alongside Metal Gear KODOQUE following Ac!d 1.
- Nearly every trope that applies to Solid Snake with 20% more Cloning Blues
- Don't forget the Art Evolution that gives his chest the same Gainaxing as Venus (justified, as he carrying several front heavy ammo pouches on his outfit), and makes his hair look even more 80's than his Solid/AC!D 1 version.
- Personality wise, he's more like his Solid counterpart, except with Laser-Guided Amnesia.
Dalton
An ex-FBI agent who convinces Snake to make an extraction run on SaintLogic in exchange for his mercenary team's freedom. Originally ousted from the FBI due to his obsession with SaintLogic's purchases of third-world children for their Super Soldier experiments, he seeks to expose their records to the world and bring their corruption to light. Dalton's investigation quickly gets sidetracked, however, when SaintLogic goes into lockdown to recover their Metal Gear and his authority is superseded by General Wiseman.
- Fan Disservice: Did we really have to see this man pantsless on the toilet?
- Mission Control
- Turn in Your Badge
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right
General Wiseman
A Department of Defense representative who takes over Dalton's strike at SaintLogic when their top researcher, Dr. Kopplethorn, demands a laundry list of military and corporate bigwigs in exchange for not hitting things with his new Metal Gear's neutron bombs. Wiseman suggests that Snake team up with his own infiltrator, Venus, who was sent in to recover the Lucinda File. Wiseman is actually gunning for the Lucinda File to cover up his involvement in, or more accurately, that he instigated, the Praulia Massacre, an incident three years ago when Snake had to stop SaintLogic's last batch of Super Soldiers from going berserk.
- Affably Evil: He admits it when Dalton calls him out on it.
- General Ripper
- Karma Houdini: If we believe his words. Let's just say that he intends to get out of Jail sooner or later.
- Lack of Empathy: Wiseman often gets irritated when soldiers don't kill anyone, and he also refers to Snake in such a way that implied that he viewed him as nothing more than a tool when Snake was injured (i.e., "Is he still usable?")
- Mission Control
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Wiseman bears an uncanny resemblance to Elton John, although whether that was intentional or not has yet to be determined.
- Obviously Evil: Dalton and Snake lampshade this; Dalton openly calls Wiseman a "villain" and Wiseman doesn't dispute it.
- Treacherous Advisor
B.B.
A mysterious hacker who found his way onto Snake's CODEC frequency. Revealing his existence to Snake and Dalton, but not to Wiseman, he does sideline research into the Lucinda File and the reasons behind its classification while supplying Snake with a random rotation of nanochip expansions (the new justification for the card-based action of Ac!d 2). Wiseman eventually traces B.B. - short for Blackboard - to an elementary school in Virginia, but not quickly enough to stop him from alerting the U.S. President to the true scope of SaintLogic's depravity.
- Playful Hacker
- Verbal Tic: yup, yup!
- Voice with an Internet Connection: He turns out to be in elementary school.
- Younger Than They Look
Venus
General Wiseman's agent within SaintLogic, sporting shoulder-holstered shuriken, a chest designed by Team Ninja, and even fewer reservations about killing than Snake. As the two begin working together, Venus reveals that Wiseman promised her assistance with recovering her own memory, much like Snake's been searching. Of course, being a Model 3 just like Snake, she doesn't have far to look. Unlike Snake, though, she's been aware of this the whole time and collaborating with Wiseman on orders.
- Badass
- Blood Knight: Really enjoys killing people, plus when she has to fight and kill Snake, she fights below her potential (or, based on the nature of the game, use the same card deck as Snake) just so her fight against Snake would be a "fair battle", considering how she would have most likely defeated Snake had she utilized her full potential, and when she is starting to lose to Snake, she even states that she likes Snake specifically because he was tough for her to beat.
- Born Lucky: Even going so far as to show off by throwing 20 coins at once that all land on heads.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: It is heavily implied that one of the reasons why she serves Wiseman is because he robbed her of her free will. This noticably disgusted Dalton enough to actually attempt to punch Wiseman.
- Combat Pragmatist
- Cutscene Power to the Max: No card exists for her shuriken.
- Gainaxing: Her stock "idle" animation is a "jump up and down to shake something out of shoe" that's clearly there to show this off, given she wears thigh-highs.
- Kuudere
- The Mole
- Zettai Ryouiki
Dr. Thomas Kopplethorn
Head scientist at SaintLogic and creator of Metal Gear Chaioth Ha Qadesh (or maybe "Kadosh", don't ask, it's Gratuitous Hebrew) and its "EGO System" OS. Upon Snake's arrival at SaintLogic's compound, he issues an ultimatum calling for the heads of several military, political, and financial figures - otherwise, his giant robot starts shooting. Ultimately meets his end at the hands of Lucy, the clone of his dead wife cultivated to govern the EGO System. Strangely enough, a "Dr. Kopplethorn" has been cited several times in previous Metal Gear games, most prominently lending his name to the VR generator that brings Gurlugon to life in MGS2 Substance's "Snake Tales."
- Exposition Break: In which he yammers on about the capabilities of Metal Gear CHQ's Neutron Bombs...while Snake and Venus discuss how to destroy the thing.
- Hoist by His Own Petard
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Had he not made the threats regarding the EGO system, Wiseman and Venus would have recovered the Lucindia File without Snake ever knowing of their existence, as well as Snake and Dalton being framed (again, in the former's case) with the SaintLogic facility's destruction.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge
- Unwitting Pawn, of Lucy
- Villainous BSOD: Upon learning from Lucy that Lucindia was not only not killed by Snake, she actually sacrificed herself to save Snake, and that she wanted to die. His reaction before his death implied that he started experiencing tremendous guilt over this revelation, although unfortunately, Lucy never gave him the chance to reconsider his stance before killing him.
Lucy
A shy little girl found in the care of Dr. Michiko Takiyama, one of Kopplethorn's assistants. Snake and Venus save the two from rampaging security robots, but a preemptive attack on the railway to Metal Gear's hangar forces them into Kopplethorn's hands. Takiyama's comments that Lucy "has only been given a fragmented ego" betray the fact that Lucy was created from the remains of Kopplethorn's wife Lucinda to command the EGO System. However, Kopplethorn's experiments in implanting a nanochip expansion system into Lucinda's brain overwrote the original ego, creating a hybrid personality that manipulated Kopplethorn into letting her bond with Metal Gear CHQ by playing along as a regular memory clone of Lucinda.
- The Chessmaster
- Ill Girl: According to Takiyama, she can only recognize her surroundings three hours a day.
- Mysterious Waif
- Replacement Goldfish
Rodzinski
SaintLogic's CEO, forced into hiding by Kopplethorn's revolt. As the threads connecting the people Kopplethorn has demanded are followed, Rodzinski orders the company's security forces to eliminate him and forges a plea bargain with the International Criminal Court to drop various charges against SaintLogic in exchange for the Lucinda File and Kopplethorn's detainment. The ICC reneges on the deal at the last minute, and Rodzinski is shot down at the dying order of security chief Vince as he attempts to flee arrest.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive
- Karmic Death: You attempt to abandon your forces to their death, they shoot you down. Even if you survive your being shot down, most likely you will be face to face with your very angry former security forces and be facing their guns.
- The Stool Pigeon: Betrayer Barry type: The International Criminal Court was to investigate SaintLogic regarding its involvement in the Praulia Massacre, and most likely find him guilty had they completed their investigation on schedule. Because of this, he intended to give the Lucinda File to the ICC and basically rat out the other high officials involved in the Praulia Massacre as a means to get himself either acquitted or serve a lighter sentence. If the politicians he entrusted to keep the ICC delayed long enough to have them arrive were also the same guys he planned to rat out, that might also explain why they reneigned on the deal at the last possible moment.
Vince
SaintLogic's Chief of Security. He had runins with Snake and Venus in order to impede their progress, as well as keep the situation at SaintLogic under wraps. Eventually, he is defeated by Snake, and then has his forces evacuate, as well as Rodzinski shot down by his forces as payback for attempting to abandon them on the island to force them to take the blame.
- Anti-Villain: Type IV, he's only fighting against Snake and Venus simply because his job was to get rid of the intruders. Other than that, they technically share the same goal in halting the situation on SaintLogic.
- A Father to His Men: He genuinely cares for his troops, as evidenced by his ordering his men to shoot down Rodzinski's chopper when he prepared to abandon his forces, ordered a full evacuation of all personnel from the island, and had Snake and Venus promise not to harm any of their men while dying.
- Badass Normal: Unlike the other boss characters in Acid 2 (besides Koppelthorne), Vince was not the byproduct of human experimentation, but just an average guy, and was still very much a badass.
- The Dog Bites Back: As soon as he learned that Rodzinski is planning to ditch his forces at the island so they would end up taking the blame after the ICC reneigned on the deal, and after Rodzinski made the grave mistake of telling them to take care of themselves for once, Vincent orders the soldiers to shoot him down. The fact that the soldiers obeyed him without question about killing their boss for this also implies that they agreed with him on the decision.
- Darth Vader Clone: He was once known as a well-known mercenary, he is dressed almost entirely in black, he wears a helmet and mask similar to Vader's, he acted as the main enforcer of the main bad guy (or in this case, Big Bad Wannabe), he commands a significant portion of the groups military force, and he eventually turns on his master after the latter does something that he doesn't approve of, dying shortly thereafter with him helping the heroes.
- Even Evil Has Standards: See The Dog Bites Back, although technically Vince barely even qualifies as evil.
