Kuroko's Basketball/Characters
Seirin High School
Tetsuya Kuroko
The protagonist of the manga - pretty obvious given his name is in the title - he was a member of the Generation of Miracles team in his middle school days. Together with Kagami, he now aims to bring all of them down.
Voiced by: Kensho Ono
- Benched Hero: In the match against Seihou. The secondary reason is so that he can save his energy for the next match against Shuutoku, the primary reason is that the seniors want to avenge their loss against Seihou themselves.
- Berserk Button: Yeah, he's apathetic most of time but insult or injure his sempais' or friends.... you'd better watch out.
- Beware the Nice Ones: See above
- Confusion Fu
- Curtains Match the Window
- Deadpan Snarker
- Foil: To Kagami.
- High Hopes, Zero Talent: Kuroko was initially this when he was at Teikou, where despite being terrible at the game, he continued playing because of his love for basketball. Subverted later on when he gains his skill of misdirection.
- Meaningful Name: His name is also the name of stagehands in japanese theater who dress in black and are supposed to be perceived as invisible by the audience.
- The Nicknamer: Only one instance but...
Riko: His name is Papa Mbaye Siki.
Hyuuga: That Papa Nbai ... what was it?
Kagami: Papa Nba...
Riko: Kuroko-kun! Find a nickname for this guy!
Kuroko: *thinks* 'Papa.' .... Dad.
- The Nondescript: His ability is a weaponized version of "being ignored": his misdirection skills gives him an advantage in steals, and his assists become nigh unpredictable. But even off-court, his teammates tend to forget he's there.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: With Kagami. If you can't tell who's who, it's...
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience.
- Averted back in Teikou when his light is Aomine whose color palette is darker shade of his.
- Sixth Ranger: Because of the nature of his basketball, he tends to be this.
- Spock Speak: He tends to speak very calmly and politely.
- Stealth Hi Bye
- The Stoic
- Team Spirit: His personal philosophy when it comes to basketball.
- Weak but Skilled: He doesn't have the talent or the build for basketball, but because of his highly refined and practiced skill at misdirection, he was able to achieve the status of the "Phantom Sixth Player" of the legendary Generation of Miracles. The other genius members of the team also acknowledge his skills, which is definitely saying something considering how arrogant all of them are.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: An especially explicit example, considering he manages to have light blue hair and yet go completely unnoticed, not only in everyday life, but during basketball games, when there are only nine other people besides him on the court.
Taiga Kagami
An extraordinary basketball player, he lived in the United States until partway through middle school. After returning, he finds himself disappointed at the level of basketball in Japan. After learning about the Generation of Miracles, he makes it his goal to take them down with the help of Kuroko.
Voiced by: Yuuki Ono
- The Ace: For Seirin High.
- Big Eater: Eats at least thirty hamburgers in one go. Multiple times. Finished X number of 4kg super prime steaks in thirty minutes. Wherein X = the number of Seirin basketball players.
- Book Dumb: Unbelievably so. Even his English grades are terrible. And he'd just come back from living in the United States for years.
- Curtains Match the Window
- Expy: Of Sakuragi. Just look at the tropes after Foil.
- Foil: To Kuroko.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He gets somewhat better as the plot goes on, but it's still a continuing issue for him.
- The Hero: In regards to his place on the Seirin team. In terms of plot significance, he's more of a Deuteragonist.
- Fiery Redhead
- Hot-Blooded
- Idiot Hero
- In a Single Bound: His jumps.
- Naive Newcomer: Well not to the sport of basketball, but he is one to the Japanese high school basketball circuit. He doesn't know many of the players from the other teams that Kuroko and the rest know from playing basketball in middle school. More often than not, he's the one asking who's who, prompting someone else on the team to reply him and the audience.
- Redheaded Hero
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Him and Kuroko. If you can't tell who's who, it's Color-Coded for Your Convenience.

- Belligerent Sexual Tension: Her interactions with Hyuuga can be interpreted as this.

Ryouta Kise
A former member of the Teikou Middle School Basketball Team, another member of the Generation of Miracles. Was the last to join the GOM, and acknowledged to be the weakest member of the team. - The Ace: For Shuutoku.
- Because Destiny Says So: He runs on this. He follows morning horoscopes religiously, and gets quite pissed off at Kuroko's attempts to Screw Destiny.
- Bunny Ears Lawyer: The whole horoscope bit. He checks his horoscope everyday, buys and carries his daily lucky item around him without fail and makes sure no one messes with his lucky item. But he's this trope because he's a phenomenally good shooter, and even does things like tape his fingers off the court to protect them, believing even the slightest injury can throw his shots off.
- The whole horoscope thing might actually be true too since the first time someone messes with his lucky teddy bear, Shuutoku loses to Seirin.
Ootsubo: I guess it's fine since the coach asked me to forgive three of your whims everyday.
- Catch Phrase: The stuff he spouts about how because he has his daily lucky item with him, he can't possibly lose.

Touou High School
Daiki Aomine
The former ace of the Teikou Middle School Basketball Team, he's a member of the Generation of Miracles. Acknowledged to be the best one-on-one basketball player among the six. He was close to Kuroko even before Kuroko became a member of the GOM, taking the time to train Kuroko despite Kuroko being only a third-string basketball player then.
Voiced by: Junichi Suwabe
- The Ace: Of both Touou High School and the Generation of Miracles. However, given his attitude, he's more of a Broken Ace.
- Ambiguously Brown
- Beyond the Impossible: His entire style of basketball seems to revolve around doing things that should not even be possible.
- Brilliant but Lazy: To the core. He prefers to sleep on the rooftop than go to basketball practice and, often shows up for matches at the halfway mark...if he bothers to show up at all. However, he may deconstruct this - he was originally passionate about basketball, and worked hard at it because he loved it. But as he got better and better, his opponents starting giving up more and more easily. Eventually, he gave up on being serious about basketball, because there was no one who could equal him at it.
- With the defeat of Touou at the hands of Seirin, he's started taking basketball more seriously again and begins to properly train.
- Catch Phrase: "The only one who can win against me ... is me!"
- Bites him in the ass when he plays against Kise and his copying techniques. Kise loses but Aomine worked so hard for it that he overextended himself, so much that he had to be benched for the remaining matches of the tournament.
- Childhood Friends: With Momoi.
- Curb Stomp Battle: Most games he participates in become this in short order.
- Curtains Match the Window
- Heterosexual Life Partners: He was this with Kuroko back in their middle school day

- Jerkass: His actions often veer into this territory.
- Platonic Life Partners: If you don't interpret their interactions as Belligerent Sexual Tension, then he and Momoi are probably this.
- Sitting on the Roof: Where he can usually be found by Momoi when he skips basketball training.
- Slasher Smile: He's rather fond of these.
- Why Did It Have To Be Ghost: His first meeting with Kuroko, His reaction mirrored Kagami in regards to dogs.

Evidenced by how the entire Generation of Miracles team turned up when he summoned them, and how Midorima lent him his scissors while he refused to lend it to Murasakibara.
