A Plot
KC's life is going very well, and he's even the football team's wide receiver. At a game, his mother attends and sees him for the first time since she got out of jail. She tries to have a conversation with him, but he freezes her out. KC's mom reveals that she filed papers to gain custody and made an appointment with his social worker. She just wants him back in her life. KC leaves furiously, upset that she's back into his life. Jenna tries to talk some sense into him and that she's is his mom, but KC's not listening.
At the meeting at the group home, KC is adamant at staying at the group home. KC's social worker and his mom are telling him that she has changed for the better and KC's is still hurt from her past drug-filled actions and think she's going to ruin his perfect life. KC's is hurt that his social worker is selling him out, and the social worker tells him legal options could take years. He tells him she's changed and encourages KC to spend some time with his mom, and maybe he'll reconsider.
At KC's mom's apartment, she fixes him and Jenna a great dinner, but KC is still suspicious of his mother. Jenna and Ms. Guthrie are fast friends and laughing while KC broods. While she gets ice cream for dessert, he looks around the apartment for evidence that she hasn't changed. He doesn't find anything except a bottle of alcohol, which he takes in order to frame her. At The Dot after dinner, Jenna is upset that KC is trying to ward off his mom and lying. And KC angrily tells her that what does she know about motherhood? Jenna's mom left her family. Jenna rolls her eyes and angrily leaves. But Bianca and Fitz see KC's alcohol and they have plans for it...
B Plot
In writing class, Clare gets a C on an assignment. Ms. Dawes tells her her writing has gotten impersonal In order to flourish her creativity, partners Eli with her. Clare is not too happy about this, but Ms. Dawes thinks they can be a memorable duo.
Clare also has problems going on at home -- her parents are growing more distant and fighting. They even snipe at each other before the church fundraiser, which distracts Clare from her writing. The next day, she gives her writing assignment to Eli, which stinks. Eli wants her to loosen up and suggests skipping writing class in order to come up with a new assignment and she agrees. Outside, on a city bench they talk about her writing. He asks what makes her upset, and Clare remarks that her parents fight all the time. Eli says to write about that, but Clare says it's too personal. Eli remarks that she's too closed off and cares too much what people think of her. He dares Clare to scream as loud as she can, so she can prove him and she does. They have a good time and get closer. Eli is now keeping in contact with her, but Clare's parents' crumbling marriage is dominating her attention.
C Plot
Alli is hot for Drew, and is desperate for his attention. However, she isn't getting a lot of it from him. She asks Dave for his input on how to get a guy to like her. Dave (thinking Alli's talking about him), suggests throwing a party. She decides to throw a party while her parents are out of town, and invites Drew and a few friends. Dave still thinks Alli is hot for him, but Alli's eyes are on Drew. During a gave of I Never (the stripping version), things get steamy between Drew and Alli as they remove clothes and trade secrets. After the party, Alli invites Drew to come back and they both make out.
