Camera Cafe/Characters
Given Camera Cafe is set in an unnamed, yet large business company, it's obvious there are many workers lurking inside it, and that's not even counting the one-time characters played by guest stars.
As with the main article, this refers to (as of now) the Italian version of this Canadian/French format. Let's rock.
The main duo
Paolo Bitta
"Talkin' 'bout me?!"
The Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist of the show alongside Luca, Paolo is a bit of a buffoon, and he doesn't have many interests outside either campers, Alfa Romeos and the like. However, his overall simple-mindedness is a foil to the way he treats his Butt Monkey co-workers. Think about him as a Jerk Jock of sorts, though Andrea is better at that.
Played by Paolo Kessisoglu.
- Abhorrent Admirer: to Gaia.
- The Alcoholic
- Anti Role Model
- Anything That Moves: as long as she is a woman (except Patti).
- Badass Driver: that's how he sees himself.
- Berserk Button: many. He's maniacally obsessed with: his car, his camper, the Pooh band, his grappa and his four colour pen. Never mess with Paolo and his stuff or you will regret it.
- Beware the Silly Ones
- Book Dumb: to a ridiculous extreme.
- Bunny Ears Lawyer
- Casanova Wannabe: despite him being "happily" married to Valeria, he regularly tries to date his hot female co-workers (most notably Gaia) but always fails. To be honest he slept more than once with Alex, Wanda, Lucrezia other than many other girls (mostly hookers) outside his workplace.
- Catch Phrase: "Paolo Bitta, a man called contract!"
- and of course his epic "TALKING ABOUT MEE??!" suddenly appearing and joining other people's conversation.
- Chaotic Stupid
- Cloudcuckoolander
- The Danza
- Drives Like Crazy: and proud of it.
- Drunk Driver: obviously. What did you expect?
- Flanderization: his idiotic tendencies and his obsessions (see Berserk Button).
- Genius Ditz
- Heroes Want Redheads: Gaia. (although he's not really a hero...)
- Heterosexual Life Partners: with Luca.
- Hollywood Tone Deaf: oh God.
- Jerkass
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: on rare occasions, usually when his friend Luca "Bubino" is involved.
- Kavorka Man: when he's lucky. See Casanova Wannabe above.
- Loony Fan: of Italian band "Pooh".
- Lovable Rogue
- Lovable Sex Maniac
- Malaproper: part of his book dumbness. Especially when it comes to proverbs.
- Mean Character, Nice Actor
- Obfuscating Stupidity: to an extent. He's more street smart than book smart.
- The Prankster
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Luca's Blue.
- Romantic False Lead: When he is close to getting a girl to admire him, he just has to do something moronic enough to ruin everything at the last second.
- Running Gag: He just can't finish a proverb properly, usually repeating its first phrase. Example: "Clear agreements... Clear agreements." (It's actually "Clear agreements, long friendship", or "Patti chiari, amicizia lunga" in Italian).
- The Trickster
- Too Dumb to Live
Luca Nervi
"Now that will piss our bosses off!"
The other Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist, Luca is the leader of the company's trade union and, as such, he's in charge of the organization of strikes. He's proud to be a Communist, but he doesn't quite stick to the ideals implied by that. As greedy as he is, however, he also has some redeeming abilities—namely, he's generally smarter and more classy than Paolo, though every time the two have a plan, it's likely to backfire. His flaws are somewhat punished by the... er, unfaithfulness shown by his girlfriend. Karma's a bitch, indeed.
Played by Luca Bizzarri.
- All Love Is Unrequited: he has an obvious crush on both Emma AND Maria Eleonora and clearly likes them both way more than his "girlfriend" Alex. Too bad he never had a chance with either of them.
- Berserk Button: as a nod to his aforementioned nature as a Communist, he hates the way some traditions, never been in Italy before, suddenly got imported from Eagle Land. Case in point: Halloween.
- Brilliant but Lazy
- Cool Loser: and "cool" only in comparison to characters like Patti and Silvano.
- The Danza
- Deadpan Snarker: one of his defining traits. Sarcastic comments and snarky comebacks are 90% of his dialogue.
- Dirty Communists: but of course.
- Dirty Coward
- Embarrassing Nickname: Bubino.
- Freudian Excuse: his (apparent) lack of parents or family. Also he was bullied in high school.
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Heterosexual Life Partners: with Paolo.
- Hypocrite: as mentioned, he's not as idealistic as a real Communist is bound to be, as if the whole point behind the character was a Deconstruction of Communism. And given the nature of the network broadcasting the show...
- He claims to fight for the workers' rights but the only worker whose rights he actually fights for is himself.
- Informed Flaw: he's a terrible lover. Just ask Alex.
- It's All About Me
- Jerkass: hell yes. However, despite being a highly unsympathetic character (just like most people on the show) he can turn into a Jerkass Woobie in a few episodes.
- Lack of Empathy
- Large Ham
- Like a Weasel: and shameless about it.
- Manipulative Bastard: he has his moments.
- Mean Character, Nice Actor
- My Girl Is Not a Slut: except she is.
- "No Respect" Guy
- Only Sane Man: in his trio with Paolo and Silvano. Even more so when Patti is added.
- The Prankster: along with Paolo.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Paolo's Red.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: when Paolo ruins a plan in a really stupid way, Luca's usual response is leaving without saying a word, leaving Paolo to the karmic punishment he deserves.
- The Snark Knight
- Straight Man: to Paolo
- The Trickster.
- This Loser Is You: the ultimate example. This is especially implied for the Communist audience.
Supporting characters
Silvano Rogi
"TOH-GOH!" ("AWESOME!")
The company's nerdy and goofy accountant and the show's resident Butt Monkey. Very shy, he's not able to overcome the others' bossy attitudes unless someone's screwing with his personal hobbies he loves the most. Other than being a goody-goody know-it-all, Silvano is also known for his semi-relationship with the ugliest woman in the company (Patti), another reason for being made fun of.
(seasons 1-5)
Played by Alessandro Sampaoli.
- Adult Child
- Almost Kiss: with Patti.
- Basement Dweller: to the point you can call him Seymour Skinner.
- Berserk Button: screw with something he's somewhat of a fan of, and you'll be screwed in return.
- Beware the Nice Ones
- Blind Without'Em
- Butt Monkey/The Chew Toy: he's epic at this.
- Cannot Spit It Out: in regards to his feelings towards Patti.
- Catch Phrase: "TOGOH!". "Togo" is a variant of the Italian word "figo" which means "cool". Of course basically nobody in Italy uses this childish term and Silvano is often mocked for using it.
- Chaste Hero
- Extreme Doormat: he's usually this to everyone, even Patti, except in his very few Berserk Button moments.
- Genius Ditz: a math genius with no common sense. At all.
- Good with Numbers
- Horrible Judge of Character
- Iron Butt Monkey: easily the most physically abused character in the show.
- I Take Offense to That Last One: frequent among his lines of dialogue.
- Kind Hearted Simpleton / Nice Guy
- Leave the Two Lovebirds Alone: when left alone with Patti. It doesn't work.
- Momma's Boy: duuuh. He defines this trope.
- Nerd
- The Pollyanna
- Ship Tease: with Patti.
- Too Dumb to Live: and how.
Patrizia "Patti" D'Imporzano
Simply known as "Cesso" (Toilet), Patti is the flat-out ugliest one in the company. She's still a maiden despite her age in a platonic relationship with Silvano.
Eager to work and kind to everyone, despite waiting for the right person to lose her virginity with (Silvano), she's actually willing to settle with pretty much anyone else.
As of season 5, she's pregnant. Silvano is heavily implied to be the other one involved. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Debora Villa.
- Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny
- Beware the Nice Ones
- Butt Monkey/The Chew Toy
- Clingy Jealous Girl
- Cloudcuckoolander: most of the time.
- The Ditz
- Friend to All Living Things: she loves animals.
- Genki Girl
- Gonk: of course. So much that Luca and Paolo (and everyone else except Silvano) love to remind her how much she is ugly all the time.
- Granola Girl
- Hair-Trigger Temper: especially with Silvano.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: Patti adores her cat named Marylin.
- Motor Mouth: she can talk insanely fast at times.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: "Patti", that's it. Or "monster", "toilet" or basically any insult related to her physical appearance.
Luca: "Is Patti short for Pattumiera?" ("pattumiera" is the Italian word for "garbage bin")
- Ping-Pong Naivete
- Shrinking Violet: initially, at least.
- Ship Tease: with Silvano.
- Strange Minds Think Alike: she and Silvano.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: definitely in season 5. Occasionally in the earlier episodes too.
- Yandere
Augusto Stanislao Maria De Marinis (a.k.a. the director, Mr. De Marinis)
"You're a MORON!"
The director in charge of the company as a whole. Highly conservative and, although not explicitly, rightist, he doesn't think about Luca as an actual "menace".
Despite he's far from being a Big Bad, he's still a despicable character, given the bossy way he acts towards the workers. This, unless there's someone somewhat "stronger" than him. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Renato Liprandi.
- Batman Gambit
- Brutal Honesty
- Catch Phrase: "YOU MORON!" to everyone.
- Also "THE STAAIRS!!" when he sees someone who's going to take the elevator.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive
- Deadpan Snarker
- Enemy Mine: with Luca, regularly.
- George Jetson Job Security
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Jerkass
- Jerkass Has a Point: can you blame him for being always mad at Luca and Paolo?
- "I Am" Song: "I'm the director!" in an episode involving a singing contest.
- Large Ham: "YOU MORON!".
- Last-Name Basis
- Manipulative Bastard: in spades. although Geller is even better at this.
- Mean Boss: he even admits that he insults his workers just because it's funny.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: his speciality.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Money
Xanatos GambitXanatos Planned This Index In General.
Olmo Ghesizzi
The overweight computer expert. Single father of a little kid, Olmo is a bit of a nerd and his interests include videogames and anything related to fantasy and science fiction. Despite his weight he has also a passion for surf and extreme sports. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Carlo Giuseppe Gabardini.
- Abhorrent Admirer: to Anna.
- Big Eater: until he lost weight in season 5.
- Butt Monkey: in the beginning more so.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Fat Best Friend: to both Luca and Paolo, although he's much skinnier now.
- Formerly Fat
- The Generic Guy: in a good way.
- Nerd
- Only Sane Man: not a Jerkass like Luca and Paolo, nor a Extreme Doormat like Silvano, he has common sense and he's one of the few down to earth characters on the show.
- Straight Man: his role in most of the episodes.
Alessandra "Alex" Costa
Alex is Luca's so-called, self-appointed girlfriend. A relatively minor character in the show, this secretary has actually slept with pretty much everyone in the company. She's also a stoner, and none of her brothers has an honest life in any way. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Sabrina Corabi.
- Clingy Jealous Girl
- Establishing Character Moment: the episode guest starring Luca's pen friend ends with something that could only be defined as a (thankfully lampshaded) Dethroning Moment Of Suck, quickly establishing her as one of the least likeable characters in the entire show.[1]
- Friends with Benefits: what her relationship with Luca amounts to.
- Hypocrite: slutty, yet jealous of Luca.
- Jerkass: big time.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: weirdly enough she's one of the few characters who is actually nice to Patti.
- Karma Houdini: no matter how much she betrays Luca, she never pays for her unfaithfulness.
- Kubrick Stare: she uses this expression every single time she's mad at someone (mostly Luca).
- Ms. Fanservice
- Odd Friendship: with Patti.
- Really Gets Around: and how.
- Sassy Secretary
- The Stoner: just an Informed Flaw, though.
- Took a Level In Kindness: in season 5 Alex, finally engaged to Luca, is not the rebellious slut that she used to be. Despite her troubled past being still mentioned, she's now a completely changed woman and even faithful to her boyfriend.
- Tomboyish Name
- Tsundere: Type A.
- When She Smiles
Andrea Pellegrino
Andrea is Mr. De Marinis' personal driver, and he's pretty much exactly as violent as the stereotypical bodyguard he looks like: he delivers a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown almost every single time he's featured in a sketch. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Paolo Bufalino.
- Badass: no duh.
- Bald of Awesome: overlapping with Bald of Evil.
- Berserk Keyboard: you just can't know what could either piss him off or calm him down. Be prepared!
- The Brute
- The Bully
- Camera Abuse: the usual modus operandi he uses to pull off a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
- Disproportionate Retribution: he is very fond of this. The "reasons" why he beats someone up are almost always ridiculous, borderline non-existent.
- Even Evil Has Standards: he didn't beat up Patti in season 5 because of her pregnancy (as much as he really wanted to do it)
- Jerk Jock
- Karma Houdini: possibly the most blatant example in the show.
- Mean Character, Nice Actor
- Mood Swinger
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: in-universe.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: pretty much anytime he appears, usually following a Psychotic Smirk.
- Soft-Spoken Sadist
- Tranquil Fury: usually, his facial expression doesn't change much, whether he's patiently listening to someone or doing what he wishes to do while trying his own patience, that is, beating the crap out of him.
- Would Hit a Girl: Wouldn't hit a pregnant girl though as seen above.
Giuseppe "Pippo" Lo Cascio
The homosexual office boy. Luca's and Paolo's favorite Butt Monkey when Silvano isn't around. A very common Running Gag is someone (usually Paolo) ordering Pippo to go to the bathroom, to get rid of him. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Massimo Costa.
- All Gays Are Promiscuous
- Butt Monkey
- Camp Gay: the way he acts.
- Invisible to Gaydar: the way he looks.
- Girly Run
- Informed Ability: weirdly enough, he's a very good soccer player, so much that Luca and Paolo allowed him to play in the company's soccer team. For obvious reasons this ability is never seen on screen (and never mentioned again after that episode).
- Name's the Same: Pippo is also Goofy's Italian name.
- Only Known by Their Nickname
- Pet Homosexual
- Phrase Catcher: "Pippo, weren't you going to the bathroom? GO TO THE BATHROOM!!!"
- Ping-Pong Naivete
- Screams Like a Little Girl
- Took a Level in Badass: in some episodes.
Wanda Sordi
A naive, submissive elderly woman, who is still on stage despite being working in the company for several years. Generally treated badly by everyone, she has always hard work to do, usually physically painful for a person of her age. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Margherita Fumero.
- Beware the Nice Ones
- Butt Monkey
- The Chew Toy
- Cool Old Lady: At times. Mostly averted though.
- Covert Pervert
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: she's not always as harmless as she seems.
- Dirty Old Woman: not surprisingly, considering the show.
- The Ditz
- Extreme Doormat: most of the time.
- Gonk: well, she's actually 60... And still, Patti is considered even uglier.
- Team Mom: occasionally.
Vittorio Ubbiali
"Ah, if it isn't that little comunist bastard with his tall, brainless pal!"
The psychotic, neurotic, lunatic guard who's always threatening people with his gun. (seasons 1-5)
Played by Riccardo Magherini.
- Ax Crazy: he's always carrying a loaded gun. In a business company where there's nobody else carrying a weapon.
- Book Dumb: just like Paolo, he's illiterate and unable to spell a word right.
- Catch Phrase: "That little comunist bastard and the tall brainless one" (Luca and Paolo respectively, of course) and "LET ME SEE YOUR BADGE!!!! BAAADGE! B-E-G-G..." (or other misspelling).
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Evil Is Hammy
- Insane Equals Violent: not really violent but he's a seriously disturbed, dangerous psycho.
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Jerkass
- Large Ham
- The Nicknamer: he never uses people's real names (maybe he doesn't even know them). The initial quote is the only way he always refers to Luca and Paolo. Once he even called the director De Marinis "little capitalist bastard".
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: in-universe.
Guido Geller
"A long time ago, in an ancient region named Gu..."
A post-merger character, the most important and the most feared. Everyone fears him, including De Marinis. He's the calm, serious, impassible man who's always carrying that small red notebook. Being in charge of human resources, he can examine workers' every single movement...and write their name in the notebook whenever he decides they do something wrong or stupid. And it happens. Always. (seasons 4-5)
Played by Roberto Accornero.
- Alliterative Name
- Annoying Laugh
- Audible Sharpness: when taking out his notebook, to boot!
- Batman Gambit
- Breakout Character
- Catch Phrase: "You know, in an ancient region named Gu (or Fu/Nu/etc)..." following a weird story about ancient chinese populations. He narrates these stories/metaphors every time he wants to teach someone a lesson.
- The Chessmaster
- Cultured Badass
- The Comically Serious
- Deadpan Snarker
- Dissonant Laughter
- Faux Affably Evil
- From Nobody to Nightmare: a meta example that borders on Hilarious in Hindsight. Accornero appeared as a guest star in previous seasons, playing a hobo particularly prone to drinking. By the end of the sketch, the guy ended up with the crap beaten out of him by Luca and Paolo; now, Roberto Accornero is back, with a permanent role, this time playing a character that, alongside Vittorio and Andrea, is the most feared one in the show.
- Last-Name Basis
- Manipulative Bastard
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: in-universe.
- Odd Friendship: with Vittorio of all people, since he's the only one who doesn't fear him. (he is just too crazy and couldn't care less about Geller's role in the company).
- Soft-Spoken Sadist: in contrast to De Marinis.
- The Stoic
- Surrounded by Idiots: he's able to make everyone look like an idiot. And let's face it, everyone in the show is pretty much an idiot. Except Geller.
- Tall, Dark and Snarky
Gloria
She is the beautiful yet extremely dim-witted new secretary of the company. (season 5)
Played by Desy Luccini.
- Annoying Laugh: oh God.
- Brainless Beauty: a textbook example.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Cute but Cacophonic: especially when she laughs.
- The Ditz: to say the very very least.
- Hidden Depths: despite her general incompetence she has a hidden "talent": being always able to know what time is it, without looking at the watch.
- Naive Newcomer
- Ms. Fanservice
- Sexy Secretary: so very much.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: for Anna, although she's even more of a airhead than Anna was.
- Too Dumb to Live
Lucrezia Orsini
A new manager of the company who has an obsessive crush on Paolo. (season 5)
Played by Roberta Nanni.
- Ax Crazy
- Love Makes You Crazy
- Stalker with a Crush: towards Paolo.
- Yandere
Characters who left the show
Ilaria Tanadale
The second most important person in the company, next to De Marinis, Ilaria is the strict Marketing director. While powerful and respected, she has basically no life outside of her workplace and is considered by everyone a bitter middle-aged woman. (seasons 1-4)
Played by Claudia Barbieri.
- Brainy Brunette
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Ice Queen
- Informed Flaw: in the show Ilaria is often looked down on for being "old and unattractive", especially compared to the younger and prettier Gaia, but she actually looks good for a 38 years old woman.
- Mean Boss: to a lesser extent than De Marinis though.
- Number Two: to De Marinis.
- The Rival: To Gaia (season 1-3) and Maria Eleonora (season 4)
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: Ilaria and Gaia.
- in season 4, with Gaia's appearances being less and less frequent, Maria Eleonora took Gaia's role as Ilaria's rival.
- Smug Snake
- The Stoic
- Workaholic
Gaia De Bernardi
Vice Marketing Manager of the company, Gaia is a smart, beautiful, successful woman whose eternal competition with Ilaria is well known by everyone. Almost all the guys lust after Gaia, especially Paolo who considers her the perfect dream girl.
(seasons 1-4)
Played by Roberta Garzia.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Defrosting Ice Queen: arguably in season 4.
- Demoted to Extra: again, in season 4. She found a regular boyfriend in the rival company (Digitex) and rarely appeared again. In the earlier seasons her scenes with Paolo were one of the most popular and used recurring gags.
- Dude Magnet: even Andrea fell in love with her in one episode.
- Fiery Redhead
- Heroes Want Redheads
- Lovable Alpha Bitch: she's essentially a Rich Bitch but way more sympathetic than Ilaria.
- The Rival: to Ilaria of course.
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: with Ilaria.
- Sugar and Ice Personality
- Tsundere: to Paolo.
- You Go, Girl!: she's great at sports and a couple of episodes involve her challenging Luca and Paolo in a swimming or tennis competition.
Giovanna Caleffi
The young, sexy switchboard operator. Unambitious and not career oriented, Giovanna is your typical pretty and friendly girl, but still able to use her natural beauty to her advantage, whenever she needs something. (seasons 1-4)
Played by Giovanna Rei.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- The Danza
- Demoted to Extra: in season 4, to the point that people wonder why she was still credited.
- Dude Magnet
- Flat Character
- Girl Next Door: a very attractive one.
- Nice Hat: in seasons 1-3 she's hardly seen without her bandana.
- Plucky Office Girl
- Screw the Rules, I'm Beautiful
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: okay, not so tall, but she still fits.
Anna Murazzi
An unlucky, not very bright secretary. After being dumped by her abusive husband, she's now a single mother of two little kids always struggling with money and looking for a man. (seasons 1-2)
Played by Giorgia Cardaci.
- Adorkable
- Brainless Beauty: she's really pretty, even hot according to many male viewers, as well as very ditzy and naive (or completely idiot in some episodes...)
- Break the Cutie
- Butt Monkey
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 3.
- The Ditz
- Domestic Abuse: not just her ex husband, but she never had a boyfriend who didn't beat her up.
- The Eeyore: prone to depression, weeping and nervous breakdowns.
- Granola Girl: although Patti is a better example of this.
- Hot Mom
- Informed Flaw: she's a terrible lover. Just ask her ex husband or any of her new boyfriends.
- Nervous Wreck
Jessica
The athletic yet elegant british manager. The only foreigner out of the regular characters. (seasons 1-2)
Played by Jessica Polsky.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 3.
- The Danza
- Dude Magnet
- Fake Brit: Jessica Polsky is actually American.
- I Am Very British: she's most notable for her accent.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Only One Name: the only main character whose last name is unknown.
- Token Minority
- You Go, Girl!: the best example on the show.
Emma Missale
The new secretary arrived in season 3 after Anna's departure. Sort of a Replacement Scrappy although she doesn't have much in common with Anna. Luca seems to have a bit of crush on her but she isn't fond of him at all. (seasons 3-4)
Played by Linda Gennari.
- Ambiguously Gay: the reason why Luca is the only one who tries to seduce her.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Demoted to Extra: in season 4. Though she wasn't exactly a prominent character in season 3 either.
- Flat Character
- Naive Newcomer
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute
Maria Eleonora Baù
Introduced in the "merger period", Maria Eleonora is an extremely cultured and competent young woman, object of Luca's unrequited affections. She's a nice, likable person but at the same time neurotic and annoying because of her obsessive perfectionism. (season 4)
Played by Cecilia Cinardi.
- Benevolent Boss
- Beware the Nice Ones: when she's disappointed by Luca's behavior (very often), Maria Eleonora can be really nasty to him.
- Brainy Brunette
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Control Freak
- Genki Girl
- Motor Mouth: at times.
- My Name Is Not Durwood: many people find her name too long and tend to call her just "Eleonora". And she always replies: "It's Maria Eleonora!"
- The Perfectionist
- The Rival: to Ilaria, since Ilaria's historical rival (Gaia) was already Demoted to Extra.
- Soapbox Sadie
- Workaholic
Michele Carminati
"FOR TOM WEIL!"
The main Digitex salesperson and Paolo's worst enemy, he is the most famous member of "Team Carminati" and strongly believes in the importance of the group work, thanks to the theories of Tom Weil, a fictional philosopher idolized by him and his co-workers. (season 4)
Played by Fabrizio Careddu.
- Always Someone Better: Carminati (and his team) is a more successful salesperson than Paolo, who was formerly known for being the best one in his company. Then it came the merger of the 2 companies...
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Goldfish Poop Gang: Carminati and his boys (team Carminati).
- Keet
- Last-Name Basis
- Nice Guy: one of the nicest on the show.
- The Rival
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: Paolo sees him as this but not the other way around.
- True Companions: again, Carminati and his boys.
- This trope backfires in one episode, when he actually does the "Tom Weil test" by falling on his back deliberately: his team must be ready to catch him before he falls on the nails on the floor. Unfortunately for him, he does this while delivering a Rousing Speech about his belief in the importance of teamwork, which ends with his "For Tom Weil!", which his co-workers are basically programmed to answer with a "hip hip, hooray!", complete with a re-enactment of The Three Musketeers' well-known Stab the Sky (see the page picture for True Companions) with their pens, by that point of the episode. Cue him falling on his back, and on the nails as well (which promptly stab him).
- Wide-Eyed Idealist: to the extreme.
Caterina Farini
A young, attractive girl who works in the company's nursery. She hates her job and always looks aloof and annoyed with everyone. (season 4)
Played by Elena Santarelli.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 5.
- Deadpan Snarker: well, not so often but she has her moments.
Luca: "So one of these days, do you wanna go out with me?"
Caterina: "I'm sorry, one of these days I'm busy."
Luca: ""What? Are you busy every day?!"
Caterina: "No, just the one you were thinking of. What a coincidence, right? "
- Dude Magnet: she has many admirers, much to her annoyance.
- Dumb Blonde: sort of.
- Averted actually. While Caterina is lazy, possibly Book Dumb and bad at her job, she is far from being as stupid as other characters.
- Grumpy Bear
- Ice Queen
- Mr. Fanservice
- Statuesque Stunner
Other minor characters
Sergio
The company's psychologist (season 1)
Played by Ernesto Mahieux.
- Catch Phrase: "As Freud says..."
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome
- Dogged Nice Guy: he's in love with Anna but she ignores him.
- Know-Nothing Know-It-All: so much.
Nadia
The company's psychologist (seasons 2-3)
Played by Carla Signoris.
Chiara De Marinis
The director's despotic daughter. (seasons 1-2)
Played by Luciana Littizzetto.
- Batman Gambit
- Deadpan Snarker: although most tropers, not being Italian, may not be familiar with the actress playing her, let's just say that having Luciana Littizzetto as Chiara makes this trope pretty much a given.
- Evil Redhead
- Fiery Redhead
- Manipulative Bitch
- Really Gets Around: she slept with everyone in the company.
- Stalker with a Crush: towards everyone, especially Luca.
Elisabetta "Titti" D'Imporzano
Patti's attractive sister. (season 1)
Played by Claudia Gerini.
Mauro Cestelli
The company's not so honest doctor. (season 2)
Played by Paolo Pierobon.
Anselmo Pedone
A shy, awkward Butt Monkey who has stuttering problems. "A extremely unbereable person" if you ask Luca. Basically another Silvano with a speech impediment. (seasons 2-3)
Played by Massimo Ranieri.
- Ascended Extra: after a small appearance in season 2, he got a bigger role in season 3.
- Butt Monkey
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: in season 4 he was no longer part of the cast.
- Extreme Doormat
- Good with Numbers: not as good as Silvano though.
- Porky Pig Pronunciation
Luca: (mocking him)"He's not stupid. He's st-st-stu-stupid."
Roberto
A new employee with no experience, who (unlike the other people) worships Paolo and considers him his hero. Him main goal is trying to be like him in every way. Paolo, on the other hand, considers him just an annoyance. (season 3)

- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome
- The Generic Guy
- I Just Want to Be Special

- Born Lucky
- Put on a Bus: he won the lottery and then started his own company.
- The Scrappy: in-universe. He's not very popular exactly because of his extreme and undeserved good luck.
- Those Two Guys: with Vasile.
Giuseppe "Ciccio Riccio" Ricciuti
Temporarily on stage, Giuseppe is a short-lived character on the sitcom and a total nutcase. (season 3)
Played by Federico Bonaconza
- Ax Crazy
- Nervous Wreck: he's persuaded that all the unanimated objects in the office are conspiring against him.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: although he hates being called "Ciccio Riccio".
- Put on a Bus
- The Bus Came Back: and he wants revenge for being fired.
- Too Dumb to Live
- Wacky Guy
- Weirdness Magnet:...in his mind.
Carlotta Russo
Luca and Alex's wedding planner. (season 5)
Played by Lucia Ocone.
- Ascended Extra: Lucia Ocone was supposed to appear as a special guest in just one episode. The cast enjoyed working with her so much that the writers added more episodes with her character involved.
Valeria Bitta
Paolo's wife, just as "loyal" as him in their relationship. Possibly the most well known unseen character.
- Closer to Earth: we can't be sure about this, but since she's Paolo's wife...
- The Ghost
- Hot Mom: according to Paolo, at least. According to Luca, she sucks.
- Housewife
- Really Gets Around: and Paolo isn't aware of this...
- Took a Level In Dumbass: In a season 2 episode Paolo discovered that she used to be a brilliant and overachieving student. Later it's revealed that her I.Q. (2) is even lower than Paolo's (12). Possibly a Series Continuity Error or maybe it's just due to the fact that she reached her husband's level with their marriage.
- Your Cheating Heart
Jonathan Bitta
Paolo's oldest son, still with childish behaviour, but somewhat the most decent family member.
- Bratty Half-Pint
- Characterization Marches On: in the beginning, he was presented as terrible as his little brother, but at some point, to Paolo's absolute disdain, he started reading, studying and getting good grades.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: the Responsible to Brad's Foolish.
- The Ghost
- Only Sane Man: the smartest of the Bitta family.
- The Unfavorite: as pointed above, many episodes were focused on Paolo being mad at him because of his dedication to studies. Instead Paolo always favours little criminal Brad and he's totally proud of him.
Brad Bitta
Paolo's youngest son. "The shortest serial killer in the world" according to his proud father.
- Bratty Half-Pint
- Delinquents: and in beginning of the show he was only 8...
- Enfant Terrible
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: the Foolish to Jonathan's Responsible.
- The Ghost: although in an episode, we can actually hear his voice.
- Kids Are Cruel
Pino and Budello
Paolo's infamous best friends (other than Luca of course), just as uncultured and thoughtless as him and known for their illegal stuff.
- The Alcoholic: Pino known for his "grappa" (a alcoholic drink similar to Whisky) and possibly Budello as well (since the three of them always go to the same bar).
- The Brute: Budello. According to Paolo he could kick Andrea's ass any time.
- Delinquents: both of them.
- The Ghost
- Grease Monkey: Pino.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: weirdly enough just Pino, whose actual name is Odoacre Maria. "Budello" on the other hand is his real name, but even Paolo isn't exactly sure if it's the first or the last name.
- Terrible Trio: they form one with Paolo.
Alessandra "Sandra" Rogi
Silvano's mom. No description needed.
- Evil Matriarch
- The Ghost
- My Beloved Smother
- Overprotective Mom: noo, really?
- Really Gets Around: with the director De Marinis being her most famous lover and of course Silvano is the only one in the company who isn't aware of this.
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: has this relationship with her son's "girlfriend" Patti.
- ↑ Basically, it's about runing a decades-long friendship between Luca and his pen-friend, only to date someone else the same night.
