Actor Allusion/Fan Works
Examples of Actor Allusions in Fan Fiction.
- A popular theme in Doctor Who fanfics (especially in This Time Round) is single-gag stories based around confusing or conflating a character with a Crossover character played by the same actor. A favourite target is the Minister for Chance from Death Comes To Time, who has referenced or been mistaken for (amongst others): Charles Prentiss; Lord Melchett; the Duke of Wellington; the QIMaster; Number Two (from a Channel 4 parody, The Laughing Prisoner); and the teashop owner from the Twinings ads.
- The Tomb Raider fanfic "Lara Croft and the Crown of Utama" features the character Alex West, who was played by Daniel Craig in the first film. Being written right after the release of Casino Royale, one can expect a barrage of James Bond jokes when reading it.
- Glee fanfiction has a tendency to make Rachel sing songs from Spring Awakening.
- Blaine is also frequently half-Filipino on his mother's side as a way of explaining his shortness, awesome voice, and insanely curly hair. Darren Criss (Blaine's actor) is half-Filipino.
- Also, he really likes Harry Potter.
- Material Days has one character that sings the B Gata H Kei theme song after another character has an Intimate Healing session.
- Blood That Flows has Lina Inverse commenting on how she attracts attention from flying machines when she's on her bike.
- In Roommates and Girls Next Door, because both are Mega Crossover fancomics, this is bound to happen more or less regularly. Like: James Norrington can't stand the face of Legolas, or Elizabeth Swann who can't place why Sweeney looks so familiar.
- In Turnabout Storm is said that Rarity's middle name is apparently Tabitha, the name of her voice actress in the actual show.
- One of the more prominent roles Anthony Stewart Head played before he was cast as Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer was Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show (the original stage version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show); he even released a single of "Sweet Transvestite". Because of this, it's not uncommon for Buffy fics to make some kind of Rocky Horror reference relating to Giles, with some going so far as having the Scoobies find a photo of a college-age Giles in full makeup and costume for the role.
