List of chief ministers of Puducherry

The Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry is the Chief Minister of the Indian union territory of Puducherry. He is appointed by the President of India[1] and sworn-in by the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The longest serving chief minister of Puducherry is N. Rangasamy of over 12 years period from 2001 to 2008 (Indian National Congress) and from 2011 to 2016 ( All India N.R. Congress). Since 6 June 2016, V. Narayanasamy of the Indian National Congress has been the incumbent Chief Minister of Puducherry.

The Pondicherry Representative Assembly was converted into the Legislative Assembly of Pondicherry on 1 July 1963 as per Section 54(3) of The Union Territories Act, 1963[2] and its members (who got elected in 1959) were deemed to have been elected to the Legislative Assembly.[3]:966 The elections for the Puducherry Vidhan Sabha held since 1964.
