Jamal Harrison Bryant

Jamal Harrison Bryant is an American minister. He is the senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church[1] He is a graduate of Morehouse College and of Duke University.[2]

In December 2018 Bryant transitioned from Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore to Atlanta to pastor New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb County.[2]

AME review after divorce

Officials of the AME denomination intended, as of February, 2008, to enter into discussions regarding Bryant's leadership, following mutual filings for divorce by Bryant, and spouse and Hampton alumna Gizelle Bryant.[3]

Family

In February 2008, both of the Bryants, Jamal and Gizelle, a Hampton University graduate, are described in a reliable published account as having mutually filed for divorce, "[h]e... seeking a 'limited divorce,' while his wife has requested an 'absolute divorce,' according to papers filed in Baltimore Circuit Court."[3] As of 2019 Jamal and Gizelle reconciled and began dating again.

Bryant has denounced sage burning by Christians, saying it is “witchcraft” and “satanic aromatherapy”. [4]
