Ivan-John du Preez

Ivan-John du Preez (born 23 June 1994 in Port Elizabeth) is a South African rugby union player for the Eastern Province Elephants in the Currie Cup.[1] He can play as a loose-forward or a winger.

Career

Youth

He represented the Eastern Province Kings at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2010 and for the Eastern Province U19 side during the 2012 Under-19 Provincial Championship season.

He joined the Stellenbosch Rugby Academy in 2013 and was also a member of the Western Province side that competed at the 2013 World Club 7s.[2]

During the 2014 Varsity Cup Young Guns competition, he started all three matches for the NMMU Young Guns, playing at wing[3] and centre.[4][5]

Senior career

He was called up into the Eastern Province Kings squad for the 2014 Vodacom Cup competition[6] and was included on the bench for their first match of the competition against Kenyan representative side Simba XV. He came on as a half-time replacement to make his first class debut for the team.[7] He was promoted to the starting line-up for their next match against near-neighbours the Border Bulldogs in Grahamstown[8] and marked his first start by scoring a 72nd minute try to help the Kings to a 60–6 victory.[9][10] He also scored a try in their match against the SWD Eagles.[11]
