Institute for the Study of International Migration

Institute for the Study of International Migration is a private, research institute located in Washington, DC. Founded in 1998 as part of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and is associated with the Law Center at Georgetown University,[1] ISIM focuses on all aspects of international migration, including immigration and refugee law, as well as the effects of international migration on social, economic, foreign policy and national security concerns.[2]

Academic work and funding

ISIM conducts interdisciplinary analysis of issues raised by international migration, conducts research, convenes symposia and conferences on U.S. immigration and refugee law and policies. Understanding forced migration and responses to humanitarian emergencies is another important area of its policy research. The institute relies for funding on a multitude of government and independent grant-making agencies, including:[3]
