Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Gutiérrez (born April 5, 1997) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Dominik Mysterio.

Gutiérrez is a third generation wrestler, as he is the son of Rey Mysterio Jr. as well as the grand-nephew of Rey Misterio Sr..

Early life

Dominik Gutiérrez was born on April 5, 1997, the son of Angie Gutiérrez and professional wrestler Rey Mysterio.[1] He has a younger sister, Aalyah.[4]

Early appearances (2005, 2010)

In 2005, Gutiérrez made his first appearance in professional wrestling at the age of 8, as part of his father Rey Mysterio's ongoing feud with Eddie Guerrero, in which the two rivals fought for custody of him, and Guerrero stated that he was his (kayfabe) biological father.[5] Mysterio defeated Guerrero at SummerSlam, ending the storyline.[6] He once again appeared in 2010, this time during the feud between Rey Mysterio and the Straight Edge Society (CM Punk, Luke Gallows, and Serena).[7][8]

In-ring debut (2019–present)

On the March 19, 2019 episode of SmackDown Live, Gutiérrez appeared on the show with his father, Rey Mysterio, who announced that he would be facing Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 35.[9] He once again appeared on Raw from April to June, during the feud between Mysterio and Joe.[10] During the following months, he was involved in his father's storylines, including an interference in a match against WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.[11][12][13][14]

In May 2020, he again assisted his father, this time in dealing with Seth Rollins and his teammates Murphy and Austin Theory, after his father suffered a severe kayfabe eye injury.[15][16][17] At The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, Mysterio had his eye "removed" in an "Eye for an Eye" match, where the winner could only be declared upon removing an opponent's eyeball from its socket.[18] Dominik thereafter came for revenge, but coming at Rollins proved unsuccessful, with Dominik having to be saved by his father's ally, Aleister Black.[19] On the August 3 episode of Raw, Dominik issued a challenge to Rollins, which he accepted for SummerSlam, in what would be Dominik's in-ring debut.[20] The following week, after making their Summerslam match official, Rollins and Murphy would brutalize a helpless Dominik with over 30 kendo stick shots.[21] Rey returned in August, and said he'd be at his son's side for his match.
