Days Chapel, Texas

Days Chapel, also called Day School, is an unincorporated community in Anderson County, in the U.S. state of Texas.[1] It is a part of the Palestine, Texas micropolitan area.

History

Days Chapel had a few homes and a church in the 1930s as well as in 1982. The church was still standing in the community in 1985. It was no longer featured on county highway maps in 2000.[1]

Geography

Days Chapel is located near the juncture of Farm to Market Road 1817 and an unidentified country road 10 mi (16 km) southeast of Palestine in the southeastern portion of Anderson County.[1]

Education

Days Chapel had a school in the 1930s for White students, which served about 62 students in 1932. There was also a school for Black students two miles east in a church called Union Hope Church, which was also another nearby community. It then joined with the Slocum Independent School District in 1955.[1]
