One pub, the Vale of Aeron, was reportedly a favourite watering hole of Dylan Thomas when he lived in nearby Talsarn in the 1940s.[1] The other, the Brynog Arms, which is now closed, pictured at lower right, reopened as a café and public house in 2015.[2]
The old railway branch to Aberaeron ran through the villages; its station was at first named Ystrad and later Felin Fach. The station closed in 1951 and the line in 1973.
